  • Mr. Morton gets fine-tuned

Decided to put a Gibson TP6 fine-tuning tailpiece on my Bourbon Burst MM1.

Nice, that's a fine looking guitar. What kind of wood is the top made of?

Thanks. It's a chambered mahogany body with quilted maple cap.

Nice idea. How are you liking it? I've never had a fine-tuning, fixed bridge.

I like it a lot. I had it on my Les Paul Studio for years and just decided to put its original stoptail back on and try this on the Morton. I don't really need to do much fine-tuning, but it's a cool feature and does come in handy once in awhile.

Looks good. The fine tuners are handy when playing. If you have one string a little out you can reach down and tweak it after hitting a chord.

I don't know anything about the function of those bridges, but it looks way cool! :dude: :shallow:

It's actually the tailpiece, not the bridge

But it's basically Floyd-style fine tuners with Kahler-style cups mounted to a stopbar. Always wanted to get one but would also want a Floyd nut since I've always had trouble with slippage on regular nuts. You tune the string to *almost there* and it pings and jumps a full semitone

FYI I think there was a battle on the cork sniffer forums as to whether the TP6 sucks tone or not.

There just may be a battle. Though, it doesn't sound any different to me than with the regular tailpiece. I do top-wrap the strings on my LP's tailpiece, as I don't like it raised up off the body, but when I had the TP6 on it, that problem was solved.
