Got this in trade (guy owed me some dollars).
Total grime fest all over this guitar, trem was nasty and had to soak and scrub it a few times and still couldn't get all the oxidation off of the string lock screws.3 locking blocks frozen in the saddles too.
The body had that nasty layer of grime like you see on a fretboard.I mean this thing full of funk in every crevice.
Some places on the body I had to scrape it off with an old credit card once I had softened the grime.
Came out real nice and well worth the work.Same with the fret board.
After some Formby's wood cleaner I got all the slime off and steel wool'd the frets to a nice shine.Frets are excellent.
Oiled the board several times it was that dry.
Bridge pick up is a USA EMG HZ H-1 passive which sounds killer BTW lots of clarity and not ice picky at all.13.6k
Replaced the Asian neck pick up it was pretty lame and woofy.
Used an old Jackson SH-2 which is a nice neck pick up at 10.8 k Had an old generic plastic cover in my stash so siliconed it on the SH-2 to stay with the covered pick up theme.
Came out pretty good to be honest and that surprised me with how nasty it was when I got it.
Just happened to have an original Jackson logo'd hard case in the closet too.
Tip: when you find original cases in pawn shops buy em' you never know when you will need them.

Nice. I paid a buck eighty for mine in pretty much mint shape. The H3 pickups sound fine to me. I might put a Super 5 way switch in for more tonal options.

You mention cases. I was at Dayton's GC when all of the sudden they brought out all these cases for $15 each. I only bought 4, but I wish I could have carried more. 2 Fender hardshells, a TKL, and a snakeskin style that is a perfect match for my snakeskin ST-III.

MGR in Louisville Ky and GC in Cinci usually have tons of cases so thats what I look at first,10 15 bucks is a good deal so I try to at least buy 4 or 5.
80's Fender hard shell cases always sell good at shows I price them around $60.00 and they sell quick.
Got an old 60's Fender tele tweed case at MGR for $30.00 and sold it for $300.00 at a show so it pays to pick up old cases.
This DXMG is probably going to get traded at GC for a maple board Adrian Smith here soon when it comes in.

I wanted a DXMG for a Roland GK project, but couldn't land a good deal. Congrats.

Is that the degunked trem, or a different one that you had laying around?

That is the degunked trem I will probably just replace the string lock screws when I find a set.
GMG is a cool color TJ I agree.
Played it for a few hours this morning and it is a solid player.

I just love the reverse bound headstock - I wish Jackson would've put that on more models.

I'm a sucker for the reverse head stocks, being bound is icing on the taco.

Those are the reasons I like the DXMG.

I picking one of these up recently. Its a great playing guitar, it is my favorite import i have. Paid 200 for it at the Dayton Guitar Center. And i've never seen cases for 15 bucks and i go there a lot, work right across from it.

Do you think they lasted very long? People were almost fighting over them.

I'd say it was one or two years ago on a Saturday afternoon. Right place at the right time.

Found one at Music Go Round in Louisville Ky today black with some scratches for $189.00.
They had a 67 Fender bassman amp and matching cab which I would have loved to get.
Had a sweet old Marshall 1960 A cab with the wheat basket weave grill cloth.
Two molded Jackson cases that fit a dinky.Silked screen C/J logos.
