It looks like it is back a bit more towards the bottom strap button than the Japanese Dinkys. At least in relation to the bridge.

Mine was just like the third from left to right, except it was a Jackson and had the "Professional" white letters, just like the Jackson on its left. As I understand it, that's a guitar from the Pro Series. Or am I wrong?

as much as I liked the black sharkies, I too can live without them and the black gunk on the pristine maple fretboard due to the sharkies. Hopefully these will not have the neck-pocket issues with the Japanes DK2M's.

Yeah, I've got that on mine. I never could figure out exactly why I was getting dark marks on my fretboard, but I did notice that they were only appearing next to the sharkies.

Anyway, I really like the look of these, and the news that they're going to be Mexican made is great from a consistency point of view. There probably aren't any guitar shops near me that will stock them, and I'd feel a lot better about ordering a Mexican made guitar blind than I would an Indian or an Indonesian. And I do want one.

My (old style) snow white DK2M made me fall in love with maple fretboards, and nowadays they're almost a must for me on an instrument. I've got nothing against other fretboard woods, I just love the way the maple looks. And that Chlorine burst - lovely! I'm probably going to have to have one to go alongside my Japanese DK2M.

My only real complaint here is - which idiot decided to put rosewood fretboards on the white and red ones? I reckon the red would look much better with the maple, but that's the lesser of the two evils. I love the maple and white finish combo on my DK2M, and as far as I'm concerned if there's one finish that's made to go with a maple fretboard it's white. Yet some cretin decided to go against this most important of the laws of nature. I'm raging!

In fact, I love that look so much that I'm almost tempted to start a "white guitars with maple fretboards" collection.

Speaking to the quality of the Indonesian guitars I just picked up a soloist and it plays as nicely as my USA's do - top build quality. I really cant find anything I don't like except the floyd rose special is a little weak quality wise.

Some of the limited run red ghost flame ones had a slightly angled neck pocket... was really a non issue but people made a big deal out of it anyway for some reason.

I did have the Fusion thouch, 3rd one from the left. But i sold it a lot of time ago. It was a killer guitar, except for the Floyd.
I do have a '91 650 XL and it's awesome!

Yup, I picked up a mint inferno red from Guitar center for $260 and it was beautiful. no neck pocket issues. but from some pics I've seen the problem went from really bad (where the fretboard would be hanging off the body by quite a bit) to non-existent. I agree, some people made a big deal of it. Probably one of the reasons the DK2M's were discontinued hardly a year after initial release.

DK2M is not old as school as I hear some say. I still have a 1994-95 black Dinky Reverse with maple board and 580LP. THAT is old school with the "offset dots".
Before Ibanez or the other guys did them.
The idea that you give Ibanez credit for this detail shows little respect for the real history of the line. They had offsets on Fusion and Dinky models In the early 90's.
I was a dealer for Jackson in those years. I even was a dealer from 2004-2006. I couldn't find a dinky model that had the "Old school" feel I had come to know. But many customers at that time found them nice. They had a different "first time" experience then I did in the 80's and 90's.
The point that I am making is that you should not accuse Jackson of looking like an Ibanez when Ibanez is again just doing what Jackson did well before they did.
Ibanez are some nice guitars. Not knocking them. But they are being treated as if they invented the pointy guitar lately.

Just keeping the record straight with facts that have been forgotten. If you like your Ibanez, don't talk down Jackson for your bias is all I am saying.

I can understand what you're saying, but other than your post, I don't see the words 'Ibanez' or 'old school' mentioned. So, why are you bringing these topics up in this thread?

I had read a reference on the second page that made the impression on me that they saw the inlay as "like" Ibanez and ESP. It has been out right stated on other threads about these. And I guess it just don't care for the spirit of it today.
Though piranha would have been a better choice and a more modern Jackson feature. The Soloist look great with them.
