  • THREE IN A ROW! NGD or girlfriend on a death wish?

Hey guys! I intend to do a full review if someone asks for one. Yesterday, after almost 20 years of a long, long wait, I bought THREE Jackson guitars.
My first target was a Black XSeries, the new ones, made by Harmony. After two hours of testing guitars, checking the place's inventory, I found some good deals.
And I ended picking up these jewels:

The XSeries has a Floyd (the white one looks much more beautiful than the black one I wanted originally ). It comes with an EMG 81 and an EMG 85. I'm not a Floyd guy anymore, but I couldn't let these babies behind!
The Kelly is the KE5FR. Japanese. Beautiful finish, flawless. I miss the binding, a lot, but the neck thru and the case are worth the acquisition.
The Rhoads, I really don't know the model, but it's also a Japanese one, bolt on, with case too. Both Japaneses came with Seymour Duncans, a JB and a Jazz. The Rhoads has a different bridge, I guess it's called LoPro.

What can I say? I wanted a King V for a long time, thanks to Dave Mustaine and Mile Petrozza from Kreator. The Kelly always comes in as an obsession, due to Marty Friedman and the "golden era" of Megadeth (RIP/Countdown). The Rhoads, come on, it's a Rhoads!!

The Japaneses are no longer in production, according to what I've learnt here at the forum, so last chance ever to have these models.

Happy as a child at Toys-r-us. But I'll miss sleeping in a bed, since my girl simply cannot get why have I taken THREE guitars (10 months ago I got a Gibson Flying V - to her it looks the same as the King V... women)

      Beautiful guitars!

And a woman will cost you much more than any guitar, so if she leaves you consider it money saved! HAHAHA!!!

RR3 comes with case? And the pickups are really JB and Jazz?

I'm really interested in the X-Line. How is the V compared to the KE5?

Simply point out the number of pairs of shoes she has, and ask her why she has so many,,,, and as you jump into bed, tell her it really is no different....

If she still gives you a hard time bring up the pics of corpsegrinder's jam room ,,and tell her look, I'm not even close to catching up so cut me some slack

                  Nice score BTW

Hum... good question. Attention to details: KE5 is better but not THAT better. I explain: the flaws I've seen on my KingV X are minimal and transitory. I found polish compound on the knobs, around the Floyd cavity (not on the "rubber" they put in), a lot on the frets, and a little more on the binding. The fret ends are not so smooth but I can dress them easily, don't know if the average player can (I'm a luthier). But even this rough ends are not as hard as some users said. The hardware is very good machine gears look sturdy and work smoothly. Locking nut does the job (although I prefer larger clamps - they do clamp the strings very well though). I haven't checked the springs of the Floyd yet, but the brige balance came well set up on the V and very bad on the Kelly ( I'm adjusting it ASAP). Intonation is acceptable on both guitars.
Kelly's nut is well cut, but the grooves need to be smoothier, since they are grasping the strings a little. Material looks nice, looks like a dense plastic.

The inlays are very beatiful and they have more "detail" when compared to the Kelly. Both are very well executed, almost no putty to fill the gaps. I haven't opened the electric cavity yet but the 3-way blade switch on the V seems cheap. Let's see.
The mounting rings on both look very nice, as the screws also do. The finish is really good, an in between vintage and olympic white. It balances very well. Kelly's finish looks gorgeous on direct light.
In both guitars, I can see the glue joint lines of the "wings" (but black and white are the easiest colors to find these lines).

Enough said, Jackson should ship the Xseries with a case, 'cause Kelly's case is fantastic.

                          Sorry for my terrible English.
