JUST A LITTLE UPDATE, AFTER OWNING THIS NOW FOR A WHILE I WANTED TO SAY THAT I THINK THESE SLX'S ARE EVERY BIT AS GOOD AS THE PREVIOUS MIJ JACKSONS. I DONT KNOW WHAT JACKSON DID AS FAR AS QC BUT BUT MY SLX DOES NOT HAVE A SINGLE FLAW. EVERYTHING ON MINE RATES AT A SOLID 5 OUT OF POSSIBLE 5 STARS.
    ROUTS,FRETS,BINDING,INLAYS,FLOYD,TUNERS,PAINT.
IF I HAD TO PICK ON A SINGLE THING IT WOULD HAVE BEEN THEY SHOULD HAVE USED THE REAL DUNCANS LIKE THE LATER DK'S DID. THE REST OF THE SLX IS OUTSTANDING. I PUT IN REAL DUNCANS AND MINE IS MY BEST PLAYER NOW AS FAR AS MY 4 JACKSON IMPORTS(DK2,DK2m,KELLY ARE MY OTHERS AND ALL ARE MIJ)

I AM MORE IMPRESSED WITH THESE THAN I WAS WITH THE DK2'S AND OTHER MIJ JACKSONS.
FOR $550 NEW THESE ARE THE BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK JACKSONS TO EVER BE SOLD!

Apparently the SLX is so awesome it broke CHARVEL_strat_81's caps lock.
It's all about the blues-rock chatter.

I'd have to agree with you on the quality of the X series. My KEXTMG is as good or better compared to my SLS3.

That could be a cool thing. I've seen that on an otherwise all black Washburn WM24. It look quite cool.

I agree. It's the same thing to me.

Wow then latest built X-Series guitars really seem to have improved qualitywise since the first ones of the new series were available.
When i played a RRXMG, WRXMG and a SLX at a local store a while ago they felt and looked cheap. Many flaws in the Binding and especially the fret ends were awful. The Sound was just ok.
Single Notes when playing chords on the lower strings with heavy distortion weren't that much differentiated hearable as i can with my higherend Japanese or USA ones.

Nice to hear as i am interested in one of these 7 string slats or a kexmg. Optically they are absolute gorgeous i think. i only wish these had ebony fretboards and the slat an unpainted neck as well.

i am/was really into them (bought three this year). but then i bought a sl3 and could really tell the difference in quality. nevertheless, the price of slx is really good.

I'm not expecting Pro or USA build/sound quality, but a neckthru Soloist for the kinda coin these SLX's are, is something I'd class as unmatched by any other manufacturer I've been interested in. And given the choice of a Pro Series Soloist with poxy little piranhas vs an SLX with sharkfins, I'll take the latter and swap the pickups. If the floyd gives me any crap, I'll swap it for an OFR. Nuff said.

I've owned two X series soloists, an SLSXMG and an SLX. The SLSXMG was from the very first run and had some messed up binding. I later sold it to a friend (it was still in relatively good condition for a used guitar, I was just annoyed that it came in used condition when ordered new). The SLX I picked up after selling was pretty much flawless.

However, I just sold the SLX for a trans red SL2Q

The X series seems to have improved over the year. It would make sense. New factory and all that. They are great for the money.

I was not expecting Pro or USA quality either but got some serious quality anyways. these floyd specials arte great if you swap the zinc block for a brass one, other than that they are a real floyd, the saddle material does not concern me since the gotoh uses zinc saddles as well. ans that is a killer trem,
I was worried about the whole MII thing after owning a DX10 and a KX10 years ago. those were utter junk, sharp frets ends, buzzes all over the neck, low quality woods, etc but the latest MII jackson's have reversed my opinion now.
These to me are no different than if they had been made in japan.
i am not sure if i got a real sweet one OR are they are real consistant now? i only played two SLX's, a burn cherry when they first came out and this one.
Both were well above the quality of a typical $500 guitar by a long shot.

I landed an SLXQ yesterday, and the neck is incredibly thin and flat compared to my DK2T, which was a pleasant surprise. After a couple hours thrashing away, its still in tune. In fact, I haven't had to tune it yet.

I had already planned to swap the pickups anyway, but I also want to replace the socket. The jack doesn't seem to go in 100% and this is the same thing I found with the DK2T. I don't believe there is currently any difference in build or parts quality between these two, except the pickups TBH. The SLXQ is just better suited to my needs - floyd and neckthru; but also happens to have a nicer finish.

                        Nice score.

Well, I do believe this is the first time I've used the massive, obnoxious pics smiley, so here goes...

                        I like maple fretboards. :P

I love my SLX as well, great guitar!

I installed EMG's in mine and it sounds way better than the price tag would suggest!

I might end up having my fretboard dyed.
