I know.Yeah but you know what I mean though eh. they are completely different pickups, one has an alnico II magnet with equal coils, the other a ceramic magnet and unequal coils. In my pro mods the JB can be very bright on the top end and a bit 'Rolly' on the lower strings but I like the natural note swell and the dynamic harmonic range on it. In basswood, the guitar isn't going to be as bright as an alder/maple guitar anyway so it might just take the edge off it in a good way. It's definitely a sweeter more rock n roll pickup. The Tonezone is just aggressive and crisp, much more two dimensional and crunchy and bitey all down the string range but it has less dynamic roll and range to each note and it's more on the level, albeit a higher one. I guess you could say it is more 'Metal', more kind of turn up the gain and solid state, but not really necessarily.
Hell the blues rock chatter, it comes from your fingers so it makes no difference really. These are the pups I have in my pro mods in order of rock, but not roll from mild to vindaloo:
Dimarzio 36th Anniversary bridge/neck
Dimarzio AT-1 Holdsworth bridge/Breed neck
Duncan JB Bridge
Tonezone Bridge/Evo neck
Dimarzio Superdistortion bridge/SDS-1 SC neck
And I like them all, but couldn't live with just one set...If he plays Rock-Metal he'll need them all and a Duncan Custom Custom. I'd suggest a longer scale length to fit them all ten of them in there.
'WTF is that?'
'Yes, that is my extra special ten pickup model'
'It'll blow you away man, but you need arm stilts to play it'Last edited by ginsambo; 11-25-2012, 03:59 AM.You can't really be jealous of something you can't fathom.

Uhm Rick, you can change pickups easily yourself and you've heard all of the pickups you are asking about and the ones that are coming in the guitar. Just sayin bro.I want to go out nice and peaceful in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming and hollering like the passengers in his car.
