Hi all, I intriduce myself, this is my first post on this forum.
My name is Geoffrey, I'm a young french self-tought guitar player. I play for about 5 years. I discovered Jackson guitars just wen I started playing. I tried the one of a friend (I think that was an entry-level Warrior), and I immediately loved all about this guitar: the handle, the sound, the spirit. Then I bought a JS30dkt that I played a lot until this month, wen I bought this brand new SDX Adrian Smith Signature (before I bought and played other guitars but no Jackson: Fender and Yamaha). Well, there it is, the review.

Being a big fan of Iron Maiden, I always dreamt that one day I will buy a USA-made Jackson Adrian Smith Signature, without ever can afford. When I learned that the new X series would include a version of the guitar played by Smith, I waited to read reviews before buying one. But nothing. It's like if the internet does not know about this guitar! I heard some sound tests on youtube, and that's all. Never mind, I bought one (to be honest, I decided to buy it at the second I heard that it exists
).
The finish is nice, the paint and varnish are good, the joints are well done. When we take in hands this guitar, the elements that could shock at the first sight (classic stratocaster shape, classic head, no sharp angles, a very classic look) disapeared instantly: no doubts, it's a Jackson guitar!
First of all the neck. Ah! The Jackson necks! That's really what turned me into a Jackson addict, these necks are for me the bests. The cuts on the body of the guitar for the stomach and the right arm are goods, classic ones. It is very comfortable, we can play hours standing as sitting without any problems. However be carefull if you play standing: there are no straplocks to keep the guitar if you jump ervywere
.
Unplugged, the guitar sounds good (despite having OEM 09-42 strings), it has a good sound projection (don't know it's correct in english, the sound is loud and precise). Hurry up, I can't wait to plug it in the amp! The clear sounds are very strat-like, maybe a little more "round" and "hot" (certainly because of the basswood body) but are still almost the sames. The "crystal clear", "bright" and "snapping" strat sound is right there. The humbucker has a good output level, but in clear sounds I never use it (because of it is non-splittable). In saturated sounds, the completely out-of-the-box guitar really rocks hard! We can feel that it's not here to be gentle: the humbucker is nervous, precise and full of high-mediums. We close our eyes and we're back in the 80's! That so good
!! However, it will be important to ensure us that the amp's equalizer is well set, to prevent trebbles are too presents. Basses are "round" and powerfull (palm muting is awesome) but a little less pecise. The low-mids are magnificents. We can have mids like "wall of sound in your face" for heavy rythms, or more defined and subtles to solo by playin with the volume and - mainly - tone buttons. The sound is full of harmonics. Anyway, if you find to do harmonics with other guitars, here it's very easy, everywere on the neck. Awesome! For the other pickups configurations, the combined positions fits perfect with a big crunchy soud (welcome AC/DC, ZZ Top, etc.). The neck pickup is very cool in saturated sounds too. First, there are any hum or buzz. The sound is king of piping sound, just a sort of Malmsteen one. It's also enough precise and powerfull to solo, doing tapping, etc. and believe you are Malmsteen
.
The top mounted Floyd Rose Special makes the jobs perfectly. We can't pull the note very high (I thing a semitone) but we can do divebombs without any tuning problems.
Sold 666€ (about 419€), it's an incredible guitar for the price! Very hard to beat. I will make samples asap.
Thanks for reading, and do not hesitate to tell me about my english skills, I do not practise enough to be very good!
