Those Japanese Soloists were a Guitar Center Exclusive a few years back. Looks like somebody swapped out the black pup rings and switch tip to creme.

Swap it, I would. Quickly, before he changes his mind!

Actually I think it was Sam Ash. I remember all of us calling them retards for naming it an SL2H when it has nothing to do with an SL2H. Should be called an AT Professional (not Pro).

These sold new at Sam Ash for $799 I think. Street price is around $600. You decide if the 550 is worth the swap.

                    You're right, Sam Ash exclusives.

True that, Sam Ash exclusives. I own the EMG model of the same run, it's archtop too. Beautiful guitars. I've been calling it a SLAT3MG. Maybe it isnt officially but hey, its a Japanese made soloist (neck through) with quality hardware. Besides who wants to call it Sam ash soloist :P

I would be torn too. If the 550 is MIJ then it plays amazing too. I would definitely play the Jackson and see if you like it. Honestly that Jackson is a hell of a guitar
                        It's pronounced soops

It was pretty much the model for the SLAT3 series, so it makes sense to call it that. I always just call it the "Sam Ash Soloist." It's tough to compare these to an Ibanez 550, since they play and sound so different. They're both nice guitars, so it comes down to which feels and sounds better to you.
