hi all,
for those who have played one, what do you feel about the slatxmg3 model? i recently got one (so i can sell my jackson slxq since i have two). not sure if it's because it's a new guitar--and new toys sometimes always seems better than old ones --but i feel the quality of the slatxmg is a tad bit better than the slxq. both have quilt veneer top, but the slatxmg3 is archtop and since it supposedly got graphite reinforcement in the neck so it doesn't have the common cracking at the neck joint of the slx models. i think the neck radius of the two models is supposed to be the same but it seems the slatxmg3 is actually a bit different? of course the pups in the slatxmg3 are emgs, where as the slxq are emg-hz pups (i swapped out mine). there's also some confusion of whether the slatxmg3 is basswood or mahogany. some say it's just the spec sheet when they came out was wrong; other says the first 500 were basswood and post-500 serial number are mahogany.... does anyone here know for sure what's the deal with the wood?
i'm interested to hear what others more experienced have to say about these tow models...
thanks!
now for some porn:
