  • Jackson Stealth TH1

I was watching an auction on ebay for a Jackson Stealth TH1. It was a buy it now or best offer auction, so I threw what I thought was a low ball offer to the seller and he accepted.

I don't know much about the TH1 and can't seem to find much information about it. Anyone know what the TH stands for? Year it was made? Where it stands in quality?

I got it for 225.00. Is that a good price?

If he was asking $300, then $225 is by no means anything close to a "low ball offer".

Without a case, I'd say you overpaid. Hell, I have a sweet metallic blue EX at my store for only $200 w/o case.

These were from the mid to late '90s, maybe you overpaid a bit, but it is still a killer guitar for the money

heres a link to a catalog from '97 with the TH1 & TH2 in it, around page 16

Don't know about 'value' relevant to the marketplace and such, but that's a lot of guitar for $225. I think you did well, for what that's worth.

Are the strings the FR speed loaders?

I've seen a number of Stealths on the bay for a few months, and they usually go around $300-350. Ones I've seen below that have been pretty beaten up.

Maybe I need to learn the definition of low ball....

"TH" = "thinline" as I recall. I have the TH2 and love it, although I lucked out (I think) and found one with an ash body.

It showed up a few days ago and it really needs some TLC. It is all cosmetic though, so cleaning it up should not be an issue. I will be swapping out hardware for better stuff I have lying around. The body is nice, but I am thinking of stripping the paint and putting something new on it. I'll take some before and after photos.

No, it's just a regular JT-580 (not the Lo-Pro version). Looks like someone didn't use the blocks in the saddles and just inserted the ball ends in there.

That's exactly what happened! I've never seen that before...

The bridge has been blocked to prevent pulling back on the trem...they used what looks to be a cut up tonka truck or something....weird!

I have to say, even though it needs a cleaning, I love the way this thing feels and plays. Neck is super thin, along with the body. The pick ups actually sound really good too.

I had the 3 humbucker version thin line. Great guitar good score!

I've seen someone do that before. I don't know if the person lost the blocks or just decided to be retarded. And a tonka truck sounds interesting! Some people will just use whatever they can when trying to block a bridge... as long as it works.
