Got a great deal on The Bay for this one. Apparently these were a limited release and, as much as I wanted the black/white bevels model, the quilt top looks pretty exceptional up close. This plays like butter!!

Having never owned a guitar with active pups before, the EMGs will take some getting used to. They sound great, even clean. Overall, for a MIC guitar, I'm very impressed. I love the unfinished satin neck and the overall balance of her. I expected this to be much lighter with the basswood body wings, but she's got a nice weight to her. Not Les Paul heavy...but not Ibanez RG light either. If any upgrades are going to happen here, it will likely be the installation of a "tremel-no" so I can drop-d without any tuning issues.

I got her as a "factory 2nd", but couldn't find any functional/cosmetic issues with the small exception of a slight discoloration on a tiny bit of binding on the lower part of the neck by the cutaway. Not enough to make a big issue...unless you paid the full $699 these were listed at. I got this for $445 shipped.

I couldn't believe it myself, but it is Chinese made. I'm not a big fan of MIC guitars, but this one is exceptional. No doubt, if it had the MIJ sticker on the back, I would have paid at least twice what I did.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure it's a maple veneer. At this price point, I doubt it's a real top. Looks pretty awesome, though.

Very nice..similar to the professional I scored last week from a friend..except the active electronics and the back of mine is black and a bolt on... ROCK ON \M/!!!

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure it's a maple veneer. At this price point, I doubt it's a real top. Looks pretty awesome, though.

Either way, the quilted looks deep and real, not like some veneers I've seen which look like a drawing over the body, 1000 times better. Congrats.

Great looking guitar! So is it satin or unfinished? Satin is a finish and, after awhile, it will turn into a higher gloss from being played.

Quite honestly, I didn't know there was a difference. It feels unfinished and baby smooth.

Should I ebonize the fretboard? I purchased the ebony stain pen the other day, but haven't been able to bring myself to do it out of fear it may "muck it up".

I think the biggest worry for me would be discoloring the binding..

And BTW - That guitar looks awesome!!
