  • Ngd! Js32-7!

Finally got me a 7 string. Been jonesing for one for some time now and this one came up new at Long & McQuade here for only $428.00! I was quite surprised at how inexpensive the new JS series are. I figured they were total shit until I tried a few. Decently built guitars for the price point. They feel and sound good, they look good and they're accessible for those without big budgets which is cool in my books.

I think this one will end up getting a couple of mods, like locking tuners (why all guitars don't come with them standard still boggles my mind), strap locks and possibly new pickups. I don't mind how the stock Jackson's sound, they don't hum a lot and they're nice and bright, so we shall see how my ears like them after getting used to them.

The guitar is balanced nicely, is fairly light and I think it looks killer. The neck is fast and not as fat and bulky as some of the ESP and LTD 7's I've played. The binding feels decent and the frets were dressed nicely. Usually in the winter they can feel a bit rough but this guitar has acclimatized well it seems. The pots roll nice and smooth with no noise and the tone actually has a decent amount of expression. The 3 way selector switches nicely and I'm really digging all 3 tones. Ran it through all the settings on my little Fender Mustang and everything was candy to my ears. I have it tuned a half step down with a set of D'Addario EXL110-7 strings so it's (top to bottom) Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, Bb, Eb. Crunchy and punchy.

High praise from this Jackson fan for the new JS axes. Awesome bang for your buck. And now, a couple of pics coz that's what y'all want. :-D

That does not look like an entry level instrument at all, Jackson are really upping their game in order to compete with LTD, Schecter etc it seems. Great score!
