Congrats on your new axe. If your strings are off-centered on the fret board where the body and neck meet, Hellbat's suggestion will probably be necessary. A different nut will have little effect that far down the board. 97815xx should be 2006-07 and your Kelly is probably a 2009.

Thanks man! I am excited about it. It'll be perfect when I get it back from my luthier. Just got back from dropping it off. He is adjusting the neck, adding a bone nut, setting up with 10's, and buffing out the light swirlies. He is also going to take pics of the date stamps for me so I can add another axe to your database I decided against adding a battery box rout. When I get it back I'll have a NGD post with pro pics shot by my wife in her photo studio.

Can't wait to see the date stamps, thanks. Good luck with the set up, a well made nut can play a big role in achieving a low action. That is, if you prefer a low action.

Got it guys! Serial # is 9781523. This dkmgt is pristine. There are a few light swirl marks on the back of the body, pretty sure they will buff out though. The neck feels identical to my KE3. My Kelly's serial number is 984xxxx. Bought it new in 2010. My only concern is that the low e string sits further into the fretboard than the high e.. (off center a bit)

I have a cobalt blue DKMGT from 2005-2006. Plays and sounds amazing... I wouldn't compare it to a KE3 though, I've had a '96 and '99 KE3 and the necks were chunky and huge. The DKMGT one is super thin and tall. Great player either way, congrats.

My luthier just sent me the info... the neck AND body are both stamped 12 - 2 DKMG T.. the body also has a separate "HT" stamp. I am assuming for hard tail. So 12-2 and serial # 9781523

The stamp should read year/month/day, ex: 2006-06-20. I think the 12-2 refers to something different than date.
