So this guy ~5 miles from me was selling a bunch of Jackson guitars on ebay....to buy a Les Paul . One of them was a Trans Red DKXT that he had set up and changed the pups to Dimarzio Evos. At the time there was a sale on solid DKXTs for $250 shipped so beat him up on the price and got it for $235. From my research the pickups were the major complaint on these models and since he had put in $150 worth of pickups into it I wasn't risking much. I also got to meet him for a cash deal so if the thing was a POS I could walk.
I got it and the guitar was in mint condition, good action, gig bag included.
The guitar looks gorgeous, has a solid build and plays great. It has a nice action that is very low and extremely playable. The tuners are a bit weak and there a little buzzing on low E low frets but nothing bad for what I paid. Tone wise it is very good but I still prefer the sound of my old explorer.
I haven't changed the strings yet but when I do I will try and see if I can raise the action up a little and address the slight buzz.
My verdict on this guitar @ MSRP...no way. The right one on sale or used for $250 or less...hell yeah.
