  • New Guitar Day Need help with year. Info would be great.

    I scored a Jackson SL3 Natural. serial is 001380

Need to know the year and if the inlays are real pearl or not.

    thanks

I have a pic posted on the Facebook page

The serial number indicates 2000. Since the SL3 first appears in the 2001 catalogue, that would make it one of the first SL3's built. Probably built late 2000.

Not sure about the inlays, but I'd guess MOTO is more probable than mother of pearl...though that's pure speculation.
    96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

does the 1380 mean the 1380th made or have another meaning?

I can't say for sure. It could be the 1380th SL3 made or the 1380th Japanese made neck thru for 2000. Or, it may be neither. That number format was used on Japanese neck thru's up until the factory closed in late 2011.
