  • old Jackson dinky professional: which body material, which manufacturing year?

    Hello Jackson friends,

please help me finding out the year of manufacture and the body material of my jackson.
It must be a dinky (xl ?). I bought it between 1993 and 1995. Price in germany was about 1200DM (ca.800$ in this time). It has reflexion pickups with gain boost and a schaller tremolo made in germany. The neck is bolt on. The Mensur is 25,5''
    Serial No. is 306341

    thanks for your help.

Hello. Yeah, that is a Dinky XL. The bodies were made of basswood; the year would be 93 by my best guess.

1993 with a basswood body. XL's with 3 knobs don't appear to be as common as the 2 knob version.
      96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

What do you think about the worth of this guitar?
(I know worth and money you get for it are different things) :-(

The 3 knob layout suggests factory Reflex pickups but the bridge humbucker looks like an IBZ F2

It is worth as much as what you can sell it for.

Just going by what used Jackson imports sell for I say the price range would be as low as $250 to as high as $400 depending on the condition. But, a motivated buyer may pay more.

You may get more money if you sell the pickups separately, and replace them if you have any on-hand you could put in, like EMGs. You won't get much more for the guitar with the Reflex pickups in it as you would with DiMarzio, Duncan, or EMGs in it, and the difference will not be as much as you could get for the pickups alone.

While I'm no expert on the European market, over here, the rosewood fretboard would be a price-reducer for many buyers, as the preference generally is for ebony.

In the US, I don't see that guitar selling for more than $400 with shipping and a hard case.
