Soloist SLXQ - Bright?

Hi, I bought a Jackson Soloist SLXQ (Quilt maple veneer) made in India (it has not arrived yet). It has a maple neck that is neck-through body, basswood wings, and a rosewood fingerboard. I am guessing the because it is a maple neck-through design that it is fairly bright. Can anyone confirm that?

Btw, it comes with Emg HZ passive pickups; I'll test them but will probably change them. Any pickup recommendations (80s/90s metal) for an SLXQ?
