  • need help with id of rhoads model i just got on ebay. $251.01 neckthru

I do think its pretty much brand new (clear protective plastic still on truss cover) like title says, $251.01, so pretty sure its an import, but beyond that,,,,, just a guess for me. I don't think the seller knew exactly what it was either as it was just listed as a "Jackson flying vee"

RRXMG. For that price and in that condition, a great deal.

That's a limited edition from Musician Friend or Guitar Center. Made in Indonesia, 2013 and a sweet deal.
MSRP was around $900 in 2013 for an RRXMG, so street price would've been in the $6-700 range. Here's a thread from sevenstring.org with some info.

good to know. thanks fellas. trust me when I say, im not used to getting good deals, so its nice to not get had again. I also bought a white soloist slx for $370 shipped that doesn't look as clean as the rhoads.

I will most likely sell one and keep one, and since im an older guy with one trashed leg (motorcycle crash, 12 screws, 2 plates, left ankle) I do most of my playing sitting down and im not sure how the rhoads likes sitting on your knee, so I will most likely sell the rhoads and keep the soloist. (but I will try them both first.) I don't have either yet as I just won them over the weekend. we shall see.

Comfort is most important. The SLX would have an MSRP of about $200 less than the RRXMG.
Since the jack is on the upper wing of the Rhoads, sitting can be quite comfy. I prefer the Dinky/Soloist myself.

I'd keep the Rhoads man, and don't let anyone tell you a "Floyd Rose Special" is a licensed Floyd. Next which ever you decide to keep, I'd have a proper setup done, if you cant do it yourself find someone you can trust to really go over it with honesty. Nice score! HNGD If you check my blog you'll see my Rhoads Project and what it should look like finished. Welcome to the boards Flyinbryan.

thx dude. I really do want to keep it. after seeing how comfortable mudlark is sitting there with his, that's not so much of a concern anymore. that pic is worth a thousand words (ive heard that somewhere before) im an older guy with a very limited income, and I am A HUGE RANDY RHOADS FAN, and the opportunity to own a decent one might not come along again. one other tiny problem might be my amp. its a peavey vyvpyr vip 3, and I read in the peavey manual that they can have trouble with active pickups (the soloist I have coming has Duncan designed passives) ive googled "active pickups with vip amp" till my fingers bled with no luck, so im just gonna have to wait till it gets here and try it.

(actually its crossed my mind to get a different amp if its a problem cuz I want to keep the rhoads so bad)

Probably due to it being "Variable Instrument Input single " the amp allows you to make your electric guitar sound like an acoustic ... that's probably where the trouble with Active pickups will come from , and I;m just taking a guess at that. I'd just keep it in Electric guitar mode. http://peavey.com/products/index.cfm...VIP%26nbsp%3B3

Actually, I think the pic I posted is a screen-grab from a youtube video. It's not me. My hair hasn't been that long in almost 25 years.

Vypyr VIPs are great. As the manual says, just don't turn the guitar volume knob all the way up.

if I kept them both it would make a total of 4 guitars that I have. an agile al3000 (they are very nice actually), the rhoads, the soloist, and a 1959 Gibson (actual, not a remake) that my late father left to me.
