if I kept them both it would make a total of 4 guitars that I have. an agile al3000 (they are very nice actually), the rhoads, the soloist, and a 1959 Gibson (actual, not a remake) that my late father left to me.

I'm not a Gibson fan, but I would not EVER get rid of my fathers guitar. The Rhoads will be out the Soloist IMO. I thought this was your NGD thread, you even posted images ... nothing saying you can't post more once you get it, I would! You've already paid for them both out right, there not eating anything to keep them both and just tuff it out till next payday.

Vypyr VIPs are great. As the manual says, just don't turn the guitar volume knob all the way up.

exactly!!! it will be weird to me to turn it down because in my experience the volume knobs on guitars should be labeled "volume/gain/effects" because it seems to reduce a lot more than just the volume. ive never had active pickups. we shall see, and soon. on the truck for delivery today

it has arrived and was in terrible need of a decent setup. I like ridiculously low action (im talking gnats azz low, like dime pinching low) so we shall see what is achievable in that regard.... ive set one (or forty) up before and have it pretty close now.

me thinks I will do a review of the instrument. looking at this one I think I will do a review of it "as new" because that's what it looks like to me.

I will also cover the issue that peavey brings up in their "vip" series amps regarding active pickups being problematic (clipping is the term they used if memory serves me)
the review seems like a nice weekend project

(hopefully folks can overlook my habitual abuse of parentheses, commas, and my tendency to separate subtopics into groups separated by spaces)
