Did the blackout job on a Morton Primer once:

The original line had a "Primer" model that did not have inlays.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Thank you Sam Ash. Thank you for being a typical company that is too lazy to actually look at and provide pictures of the ACTUAL GUITAR you are getting.
I usually say no to these LACKLUSTRE places and deal with private shops or ebay sellers willing to send me the exact detailed pictures I request. This stuff just pisses me off as it's easily prevented. But I could not find one of these except for samass, music666 and musicians enemy. So I caved and went with Samass.
But I did sweat them for free overnight shipping and they caved. I understand I can send it back, but WTF? Why can't these places just have people that actually look at the instruments?
End of rant anyhow. My master luthier skills came in handy as it's now fixed. Whoever taped off the binding should have their damn hands chopped off. I got lucky with my other DX2 Trans Black Dominion, that one was flawless. I guess I lucked out. Jackson and all the rest of them, you either get a good one or you don't. The QC over there SUCKS. All of them.
So I now have it sanded down lightly and will retape the binding and do what the people that take no pride in their work should have done and do it properly. I also realize this is a $700 guitar. But FFS, how much effort is it to remove some tape and redo a straight line?
This dent did not happen in transit either. It came from the factory like that and the A-holes just clear coated over it. Can't really tell from the picture but they just said screw it, send it.
2 hours later
Gonna do a proper refinish on this when my supplies I've ordered arrive.
Ebonized the FB. Waiting for some inlay stickers :hbang:
Kinda lame but better than the dumb dots. Dots on a Jackson? WTF?

Damn man, nice job fixing that! How did you ebonize the fretboard? Agree 100% on the dots on a Jackson, that's shouldn't exist.
But yeah, it's a shame that the instrument industry hasn't evolved yet to year 2000 levels. No quality control, phantom businesses that don't do anything but offer a website, poor customer care--I would consider product care/quality control as part of customer care, after all the customer is there for the product.
Doesn't speak well for Cort if this happened during production and they still slapped the "inspected by" stickers on the guitar.

I emailed Jackson and linked them to this thread. They emailed back, bla bla bla bla. It's not Jackson anyhow, I keep forgetting it's Fender. They need to up their QC and I will bash them till they do. I'm the consumer and if I pay 700 or whatever for a guitar, I don't expect dents, and I do not expect amateur paint job and masking job that looks like it was done by a 6 year old.
All I know is that my dominion pro better have no issues. I'm going to have to have a talk with Sweetwater before I pay them. I'm going to demand up close pictures. There's nothing I can't stand more than paint/binding seam not straight. No excuse for it, it's 2015.

The process is
1. Dye the fretboard
2. Let dry
3. Clean off with paper towel
4. rub on a liberal amount of lemon oil
5. Repeat 1-4 again
6. Final buff with lint free cloth.
7. Clean binding - this is the fun part. I used magic sponge and steel wool. The Edges of the frets and fret ends are the hardest to clean. I wrapped steel wool around a thin piece of metal and went side to side and fret to fret on the top of the binding as it's hard to get in the little crevices. It's a decent amount of work but looks good when completed. With the inlay stickers on, it looks great, until you compare it to a dominion pro with real inlays.
I redid the inlays on this one as they came out cockeyed. I was drunk when I put them on, heh.
Buff the shit out of it with the cloth and it will be dark and there will be zero residue
I'm putting on some pentagram stickers when they arrive and I've ordered some dominion inlay stickers like on my trans black DX2 dominion in case the pentagrams look gay.
Here's the dye I use.

All finished pretty much. Waiting for the humidity to die down to respray it, but it's good enough for now. All black hardware, liking this thing a lot.
Had to dremel down the tone pros stop tail and tune-o-matic a bit of course. Wouldn't expect the damn thing to just fit in :scream:

Nice job on the repair, I could not even see it in the after picture. It seems Jackson take no responsiblity in problems that arise, they all blame it on something else. I would have been pissed too, but if its hard to find and you really want it, I guess its better to keep it and repair it yourself, then send it back and hope some day to find another one. How much did the Tone pros bridge set you back?

Thanks. I spent about a good couple hours on that dent. I have OCD when it comes to repairs like that. Anything but perfection will not suffice. The reason I did not send it back, was that the issues were mostly cosmetic and chances are, I would get a worse one. Also, this was the last flat black one. So I got bottom of the barrel. Not that it matters, because they don't even look at them. I have a feeling this one was used. The back of the neck was shiny, meaning someone played it, it had a sheen to it. I'm not an idiot. But as far as the dent, that was done at the factory, as the dent was just clear coated over as I mentioned.
The Tone Pros setup was around $100. Sucked filing the slots, but I have nut saws and needle files and all that shit. I hate relying on other people to do shit. The only thing I don't really mess with is frets.
Thanks
