Jackson Owners That have swapped out the stock JT580 for an Original Floyd Rose. I am looking for members to post pictures of their guitars. I am looking to buy one for my DXMG, but I want to know what it will look like in the body, and if it looks weird. I have only seen 1 or 2 pictures and there was a big gap on the top side of the bridge. I can't wait to see some pictures.
    Cheers!

But, be aware both are JT580LP routed. I think the DXMG has the same 580LP, too (I've sold mine 6 years ago and I don't remember well). Yes, maybe there's a big gap, but I don't like the 580LP, so it's a great upgrade.
If your DXMG is black and the Floyd is also black, I don't think the gap will be very noticeable.

Thanks for the pictures, I know the JT580LP cavity is longer then the JT580 so there is more room for the lock screws. Looks good top of the bridge has a bigger gap but doesn't look to bad. Do you use the stock mounting bolts or install the Floyd Rose bushings and screws? Are they a direct swap or did you have to drill to make the holes larger?

In the red, I've used the stock mounting bolts, and works very fine. The blue was made by a luthier, and I don't remember if he swapped the bolts (also works fine).

swapped on my DKMG, I had to take a tiny bit off the front right, or the base plate would hit

My DXMG is black, but it has the JT580 not low profile bridge. It has the string lock screws on the back like a Floyd rose.

you should be able to pull dimensions off the Floyd site and double check.

What tremolo did you have JT580 or the JT580lp?

Keep in mind that it is not just about the physical space that the OFR takes up in the cavity but also that many guitars may not intonate properly after such a swap.

I am not even going to bother upgrading to a Floyd. I just don't want to spend all that money and have it not fit. When the stock trem fails and needs replacing then I will look into it. I ended up just getting a brass big block for the JT580 trem and a trem stopper.

good choice! I replaced mine because the previous owner trashed it.

I have a JT580LP on my DK2M, its like new, a nice trem, the only reason I would consider a swap is I'm not used to palm muting with it.
I'm getting used to it now, so, like you, I wont swap it out until something breaks

I like the Jackson trems. They get trashed because people adjust the string height with the string under tension and wreck the knife edges. I just scored a 1998 DK2, with case for $200.
