  • DK2 MIJ problem areas ?

    Hey guys.

I can get this guitar cheap, he says it's mint.
How do you rate these guitars ?
I have been reading a lot on forums and most people say it's good quality.
    Any info is appreciated, thanks

Absolutely good quality (normally). Figure on setting up (or paying to set up) how you like it but those are nice guitars. Especially with the real Duncans..

That is one of the nicest flame tops I've ever seen on a recent import. It has a very "tiger stripe" quality to it.

Here is one I recently got, great looking, sounding and playing guitar. It's hard to go wrong with a Japanese Jackson.

Wow awesome, looks great, how is the fret finish ?
            Sticking out or uneven ?

The frets are great, no sharp edges, really a quality guitar at any price. I love the Japanese Jacksons, I have many.

Remember, protruding fret ends aren't ALWAYS a sign of poor workmanship.
Sometimes the neck wood wasn't properly seasoned and you can get shrinkage.
The frets could have left the shop smooth, and then in a dry climate start to stick out.
                Very simple fix...

Black hardware and real Duncans indicate a 2006-2011 model. The North American used market is full of similar Japanese Pro models in the $3-400 range.
Japan made some excellent guitars. My 2011 DKMGT is very much comparable to my USA Soloist.

That said...guitars need to be judged individually. There are duds at all levels.
                  96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

yea the MIJ jacksons are very high quality. these are pretty good stuff. Tremolo is the only weak point on the guitar and is easily swapped out.

                    here is mine

                      Awesome

Well I bought it, only played it for two hours but it feels awesome, low action, no fret buzzing, stays in tune, it's from 2006.
This one feels better then the pro series Dinky I just tried new at the store so I'm happy

I have the same one, new from about 5 years ago. Not a single fault ever. I put a D'Activator X in the bridge as the Duncan was naff, made the world of difference.

                            Congrats, these are amazing instruments.

Edit: Forgot to say I also threw in a Schaller, flutter city is the place to be.
