Now you're on the right track. This is a 2000s Jackson DXMGT. Japanese I believe. Pretty good price at $175.

You seem to be fixated on a fixed bridge guitar. If you expand your search to include tremolo-equipped guitars, you will more than double your chances. Fixed bridge Jacksons/Charvels are certainly not as common as tremolo guitars... but I understand why people may not want a tremolo.

Out of curiosity I searched nearby cities just to fish for examples.

Those are good deals, my only thing is I would try and stick with a hardtail. The charvel I used to have was a floyd rose and it was nothing but a pain. I never use the tremelo either.

And is that one I posted from Lexington craigslist made of alder? I'm reading alder and basswood and am not sure.

If we go by the archived DXMG specifications page http://web.archive.org/web/200503080...tno=DXMG_Dinky which is a similar guitar to the DXMGT in Lexington, it is alder.

EDIT: The 2006 Jackson pricelist shows the DXMG as alder (http://support.jacksonguitars.com/pr...celist_b&w.pdf), while the 2008 Jackson pricelist (http://support.jacksonguitars.com/pr...list_color.pdf) shows the DXMG as basswood. So it can be reasonable to expect that the DXMGT in Lexington it might be alder or basswood depending on the year.

Thank you!! I think I'm going to hold out on that deal. My wife just said I can spend $700 and a little more if need be. Opens up a whole new selection of used now. Wonder if I can get an American jackson used for that?

Yes, USD$700 can get you the occasional used USA Jackson/Charvel or one of the high-end Japanese Professional Pro neckthru guitars (Soloist Pro, Rhoads Pro, etc. which have incredible USA-like build quality) from the early 1990s. Of course exercising patience may be required, but they are out there.

There's a new Guitar Center flyer posted on facebook showing the $649 SLATHXMG3-6 hardtail for $429 at select stores. They're mahogany, neck through, EMG 81/85...The do have the 3-a-side AT headstock, though.

Check out some pics online of the model. If you like it give 'em a call.

$7-800 for a USA model in the American market is far from unheard of. Most of us here has seen or heard of that happening a handful of times a year.
Finding USA non-tremolo'd Jackson Dinky/Soloist shape isn't easy, but expecting to find one for that price is stretching luck.
Charvels? Possibly, I'm not up on the Charvel market or models.
