    She has arrived!!!

The guitar is fully functional and the action is low with no buzzing. Frets look outstanding. The Duncan pickup is a Full Shred SH10 or TB10. It sounds good for metal but is a bit hot for clean tones on my Marshall Code 25. I am probably going to put the J-85 back in it.. or an SH4 JB. The bridge is NOT the original JT580LP but is from a Charvel and I am not complaining. As you can see from the pic the bridge is a Schaller bridge. I'll keep it lol. I have to get the cavity cover for the back and a black pick up selector tip... mine is green for some reason. The neck plate is not correct and is from a 1993 Fusion I think. I will try my best to source a correct neck plate. I will be cleaning a few things, adjusting a few things and eventually sending the body off for paint. It is nice to get this neck back in my hand... feels so damn familiar and smooth like butta!

I do like the Seymour Duncan Full Shreds in the bridge, my favorite humbucker. Got them in four guitars, and probably in another project guitar I'm planning.

I don't think your guitar had a JT580LP in it. The route doesn't look right for the LP (different shape baseplate).

Sounds like your on a winner. Congrats, dude!

The JT580LP from 1994 had a square baseplate. Older models had the Schaller/JT590 like shown.

I didn't know that! Thanks for that. I'm used to the JT580LP's like on my 2004 DK2.

When I had the neck off the body the stamp on the neck pocket said Dinky Rev and also 8 5. I am guessing August of 1995?

No problem. I had a '94 purple Dinky Reverse with that trem, it was nice.

                  Color Switch has begun!

I started all of the prep and sanding of the body today. It's going to take a lot more sanding to get to the paint layer as I am sanding by hand. There are a few dings in the body that I am going to use JB Weld black epoxy on and after it cures fully will sand level with the rest of the body. I am sanding down to the black paint layer with 320 grit, filling in the dents and dings with black epoxy, sanding again with 320 grit then 600 grit, 1200 grit, finally 2000 grit. After the sanding and I am satisfied that the surface is flat I am going to spray Duplicolor Metalcast purple over the black with two coats then I am going to wait a week and spray 3 coats of automotive grade acrylic lacquer. After I wait another week for the clear to cure I am going to wet sand the clear at 1200, 2000 then 3000 grit before I polish it. On to the pics.

I have filled the dents with the epoxy and it is very tough and a HUGE pain to sand flat even with 320 grit. I am taking my time though and am sanding as flat as possible. Here are some more progress pics.

Prep sanding done... by my count that's 3 days of sanding... sanded to wood in a 1x1mm spot. I think the paint was just thinner there. I will be cleaning the body and spraying on the first 65+ degree day.

Just ordered some pickups. I am going with the Seymour Duncans, JB TB4 in the bridge and the `59 SH1 in the neck. Thinking about some new pots... 500k is what is in there now... any brand suggestion?

I usually go with Dimarzio pots and switches. I get great life out of them. Got them in my gigging guitars, and a few others, and they are lasting well.

I may be interested in the Seymour Duncan Full Shred, if you want to sell it. PM if you like.

I ordered a set of 4 Bourns long shaft, audio taper, low friction pots and they are coming with 2 orange drop .022uf 400v capacitors. This way I will have two backup pots and a backup cap. hairy-dude, I looked into shipping, I think it would be less expensive to purchase a Full Shred there... I was quoted 113 AUD just to ship to Melbourne.
