Here's the latest update. Took about 50 minutes total so far getting the paint off. I need to do some of the sides still, and try to get as much as I can from the cavities, but I'm expecting to not be able to get it all from the cavities. I noticed a few very small chips in the finish around the trem plate cavity.
Pic might not shwo up until it's approved. I rubbed a little oil on the body to see how it looks shiny.

I wouldn't worry too much about the pickup and control cavities, your hardware will cover that. If it were me I'd tape and paint the term cavity though using 1000 grit wet dry sandpaper scuff sand it smooth. Then clear the body with a 2k urethane quality clear. Be careful when you scuff sand the term rout not to reshape it. That's a pretty finish, considering how thin those veneer tops are you did a great job removing the paint. As for the chips if your comfortable doing it you can drop fill those with CA glue then sand flat before clearing.Last edited by Jushien L; 07-12-2017, 08:24 AM.

Damn... that is looking good. Ya, don't worry about them pickup cavities. They'll be rough and you won't be able to remove all the paint anyways. The neck pocket will have to be done carefully. Would be nice to get it to the bare wood, but might not be possible without making the pocket slightly bigger. But wow. Can you do me a favour? Can you ask that dip&^t who you got it from if he has another Jackson he wants to sell for $60?

Here's how it's looking now. I stuck everything on there just for the pic.
.
I buffed it, has some light scratches but it's good enough. It has a spot on the upper edge where it looks like it got dropped but I can live with it.
I need the pickups, electronics, and some knobs and it should be good. I guess maybe a trem plate too if I can find one kind of cheap.Last edited by JasonSD22; 07-15-2017, 04:07 PM.

Just paint the trem cavity black, and put some copper shielding in the P'up holes, no one will notice or care what it looked like before you rescued her from drowning"There's nothing taking away from the pure masculinity I possess"
