  • Confusion -1992 Jackson Stealth or Fusion ?

I just joined the forum to find out some info about my 1992 Jackson.
    It has a Fusion/ Stealth serial number..924552
It has what I believe is Fusion body , with a 22 fret bolt on neck, like a Stealth .
    Here is the rundown.
    ----------------------
    Jackson Headstock w/ " Professional"
    Truss-rod cap painted over.
22 Frets 4 Screw Bolt on neck.
    Jackson stock pickups.
    J50B.J200.J200 HSS Pickup Configuration.
    Jackson Stock black Tuners.
5 way toggle switch pickup selector
    1 Master volume control knob
    1 Tone control knob
1 Preamp mid-boost sweep control knob.
    Custom blue dragon finish.
Ebony fingerboard ? Hard to tell-painted over.
    Maple neck.
    Compound Radius neck.
I am including some links to pictures.

Is this Fusion body with a Stealth neck ?
    A hybrid?
    Any info is appreciated.
    Thanks

It's a Stealth. Unless the neck is short scale 24.74", then it would be a Fusion, and I don't think they made 22-fret Fusions.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Stealths were the thinner bodied ones and the fusion series were the 24.75 inch scale ones like toejam said. Because of the thinnes of the body they had to put the output jack on the top of the body like you see on the ibanez S series.

Also i dont think 24.75 and 25.5 inch scale parts go together that well.

Thanks to everybody for the input. Much appreciated. The scale is 25.5.
My confusion began when I could not find any Stealth Pros shown with the 5 way toggle switch pickup selector
and the 1 Master volume control knob, 1 Tone control knob and 1 Preamp mid-boost sweep control knob configuration.
Has anybody got any go to links to see this anywhere else?
Do you think that this guitar is a stock Stealth Pro then? ( Besides the paint job)

Someone probably changed the electronics and added that 1 control knob by doing so. Hard to tell from those pictures if the neck is a stealth neck. The dot inlays on stealths were offset. There should be markings on the bottom off the neck if you really want to know what it is. Also i cant tell if the trem is a schaller or a JT-580 from those pictures. I suspect it is a stealth xl but noway to tell for sure.

Here is a nice example of a early stealth model with Schaller trem and even a MOP Jackson logo. You can see it has the ebony fretboard and those huge looking jumbo frets similar to your guitar.

Another one with the reflex pickups.

it's definitely a Stealth. Hard to tell just which model. All Stealths should have a 5-way blade selector, since they were all HSS or HHH. If the fretboard is ebony, it will be a Pro. If it has a lopro trem, it's an XL. The swapped out pickups don't make things any easier - it looks like someone has popped in the electronics from a Model 4 or 6, hence the covered pickups & extra knob. If it had the stock pickups, you'd be able to tell what it was by the single coils - EX, 2x J110. LT, J110 & J100.

http://audiozone.dk/index-filer/jack...ofessional.php Scroll down to the Stealth section.
            Hail yesterday

Thanks again for all the help.
After looking at audio zone link I can see that the pickups are different.
I'll be doing some more research next time I change the strings.
I'm going to have a look see what's under the pup covers.
I have a Charvel model 4 , and I see what you mean.
              Definitely not stock !
              Once I know more , I will share .
              Thanks.

                Stealth body no doubt.
The quickest way to ID it would be to remove the neck and check the model stamps in the pocket.
                96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.
