  • Jackson DK2M Red Ghost Flames

I am sure that a number of you remember these guitars. Are there any of you who have receipts for buying one new? Some of the old review sites (maybe the old Harmony Central) used to have the 'prices paid' info but I think most of that went the way of a lot of things...poof...gone!
My Duncan Designed pickups are way better than Seymour Duncan regular pickups you fanboy.

I remember these guitars I think they came with reverse headstocks. I never bought one but 900 seems to be what I remember.

If these are the single humbucker ones, I bought one from musicians friend. I think it was some sort of blowout pricing, like $250, really cheap. I eventually returned it due to the crooked neck pocket issue that many of these had. I dont know what the msrp on these was. It was this one.

I got one when they were discounted from Musicians Friend, but I remember something more in the range of $400. I fixed the crooked neck pocket so the neck was corrected to be level/flat with the body (which allowed the floyd to also be level, meaning the left side of the floyd was above the body equal to the right side of the floyd, that was one of the signs the neck pocket was off, as to play it as delivered, one side of the floyd had to be jacked up higher than the other). I also routed it for a front single coil and added a 3-way toggle pickup switch. I just pulled it out of the case, was still in tune after years of not touching it, plays great, neck feels great.

I got mine from ebay a number of years back, the pup isn't stock. I put a Schaller on it.

I'm currently using it to record, it's one of my most used & loved axes.

I had two of them and recently sold one in near mint shape to a collector.

The headstock got broken in shipping.

I got a MIJ DK2M, maple board, black inlays from MF for around $500.
Great guitar. Real Duncan PUPs, hardshell case. I believe it was a model
end blowout and they usually went for around $750. Mine's a plain white
                  finish, though...

Anyone who has one that they are thinking of selling or runs into one which is in excellent to mint condition, send me a note as I know someone who is looking. I am speaking specifically of the single H model Red Ghost Flames like in the pic posted by z1n.

The ghost flames version usually sold at retail for $699. As was already mentioned, the solid colors sold for $599.

                        Just FYI:

                        Jackson told me $999.99 MSRP

                        and

Mucisian's Friend told me they sold for $899

Here in my part of Canada, at the time, we were out about $1550.00 to get one due to exchange, duty and tax. I figure that to be in between $1000 and $1100 then add in the duty & taxes (my Province is 15%).

This is likely before the neck pocket issues were found. Strangely, I had 2 of them and neither had bad neck pockets - that is odd to me for bodies that would be CNC routed.
