Help identifying soloist

This guitar kinda fell in my lap years ago and just getting around to figuring it out. from what i gathered going through info online, its a 1990 soloist likely made in Japan 6 digit serial starting with 00. Im confused mostly by the Grover Jackson sub-logo where it would say professional or made in usa?? please help

Welcome to the forum. The Grover Jackson line was made in Japan for the Japanese market. The Grover Jackson line later turned into Jackson Stars.

FUUUUCK, that is SUCH a bitchin' guitar.

Not enough catalogs are scanned on the Import Catalogs archive (https://www.jacksonguitars.com/support/import-catalogs) on the Jackson website, but going by some of the examples there, the closest thing would be called a "Soloist Custom". I guess the Japanese-market guitars followed the American naming scheme, rather than the Jackson Professional Series of the time which had Pro/XL/Std. nomenclature to denote levels of trim and aesthetics. Though, the photos of the Soloist Customs seen in the catalog scans all show the three knobs in a more traditional location, moved closer to the bridge pickup, rather than your three knobs being shifted towards the butt of the guitar.

Also appears to have a non-recessed trem with the pull-up route behind it.

thanks, for the replies guys. So this was originally for Japanese market, or were they exported to USA? When did Grover Jackson start making their guitars, or is it the same company that make the professional models? sorry if I'm a noob.

Yep I have one too, a 1990 Professional Pro in pearl blue (I think that's what they called this finish?). One of my favorite guitars.

It is definitely 1990, rare model, look at the control placement, they moved pots closer to bridge pickup in 1991.

Personally I don't see a lot of Grover Jackson and JacksonStars guitars in my Canada-wide searches, but specification-wise your guitar has the same DNA as the more commonly-found, world-market Professional Series from 1990-1995 and your guitar resembles a Soloist Professional Pro (if your guitar has an ebony fretboard). As a buyer I'd quickly snap that up for USD$500, and as a seller I'd love to fetch USD$1000 for it.
