Question about a PS4

I just bought a PS4, and I am trying to understand exactly what I have.
The SN is 9650075.
According the the post on this site, it's a 1996 MIJ PS4, otherwise the SN would start with 1 or 0 and be MIK.
I looked at the 96 Jackson catalog and this exact guitar isn't in it.
According to that catalog, the PS4 was not available with a transparent finish.
This one has a transparent burgundy finish.
It plays beautifully, the trem is really nice, and the Jackson PUP's sound as good as a friends Nazgal/Sentient Duncan set.
Can anyone help me solve this mystery?
Or am I reading too much into it?

Those serials aren't date coded, they ran in sequence.
That'd be a 1999-2000 serial.
Trans finishes were available at some point.
