• JT580LP replacing a JT590?

I've been sitting on the various pieces of my Stealth parts guitar for several months, and now that I finally felt motivated to work on it, I found that I was wrong in buying a JT580LP trem -- the Stealth originally came with a JT590.

I had taken it to a local tech, and he said that the locking nut (I'd bought an R3) wouldn't work, but that he could find one that would. My question is this: even with the right nut, with the low-profile 580 fit in place of the thicker 590 and sit flush without modification? I know people are always replacing the 580 with OFRs, but I was really hoping for a low profile trem.

The Floyd Rose Pro USA model is the Low profile version of the Import JT580LP. Jack.

The newer JT-580LP's have angled baseplates, so it will probably require some routing. Whenever I see a JT580 replaced with a OFR I see that there are gaps behind the trem. And since the OFR and the Schaller(JT590) are extremely similar dimension-wise...

Thoraby, i don't fully agree. The OFR needs a larger routing for its much longer string holder locking bolts. See this picture for an OFR mounted in a body routed for the JT-590 - bolts are exceeding the route out the back:

I always forget something. I actually have a both Schaller and a OFR, can't believe I missed that
