• RR3 or RX10D Limited Batch run...

The old thread we had got lost during the forum switch over.
I would like to thank everyone that has already had input on this LTD run and ask that we start over new on this thread.

After speaking with Jackson today, there is no way that woodworking changes oither than a 1 hum can be allowed unless I order 500 or more...
And my pockets arent that deep.

So, here is what we cant do.
No 24 fret Rhoads
No maple or ebony board unless its already stock with one.

The primary deviations allowed are going from 2 hums to 1 hum.
EMG pick up.. not the select or other pup..
and then of course the paint job of our likings.
Additionally, they will come with the stock JT580 tremolo unit and for those of you that would like, I will upgrade that to an Original Floyd Rose for the cost of the trem.
Labor to swap them out will be free as long as it doesnt need routing.

So I guess thats where we need pick this up.
Id really like to get the rest of these features solidified and see who all is in for one of these.
I think the min quantity order on an Import LTD batch is 24 pieces...

Thanks

Well... it's kind of limiting as it is, seeing as how the only "deviations" from a normal import Rhoads are that we can choose one pickup instead of two, and that we can choose any paint scheme. So, how about a non-import graphic on the Rhoads?

If I wanted to go nuts, I'd want the RR3 because it has extra controls, except I'd swap out two of the controls for EMG-SPC and EMG-EXG accessories, but I can do that aftermarket anyways.

This is what I would like:

-RR3
-1 humbucker/1 volume control(EMG 85)
-White w/black bevels or Black w/white bevels
-Matching headstock
-Black hardware

One question...will binding be possible?

Hmmm, maybe an EMG 89 for its coil splitting abilities? Maybe an added VMC would be cool (variable mid frequency control). I'd really like a Rhoads, but if it's only one pickup, I don't know if I can deal with that too well. I guess I could deal without a tone control, but I can't without a neck pup. I guess maybe I'd be better off saving for an RR1 then.

RR3 with this graphic :

Except with two hums, Volume, Tone, Gibson-style 3-way, jack on inside of top horn where it belongs, painted pickups, painted top-mounted control cover, and Floyd.

If we settle on Rx10D can we get the upperwing Jack socket?

What about:

White, Silver Bevels
One Hum: EMG 81/similar
JT-580 Trem (Chrome)
Single Volume
Large Control cavity (For Mods)
Regular Sharkies
Mathcing Headstock
Unfinished Neck.

What is the average cost on these? Cause i just got a job today (Full Time Asst. Chef) so i need to know how much to bank a month, lol opcorn:

Re: RR3 or RX10D Limited Batch run...

Thats pretty cool. Looks like a carved top??

Anyways..
Just hung up on the phone from my rep.
We both agreed that the RR3 is a much better route to go than the RX10D.

So weve narrowed it down to the RR3!!
And I only have until this wed to finalize the order details.
Then I fly out to NAMM where the order gets officially placed on Fri.

So crunch time everyone!
Thanks for all the input thus far.

I'm really wanting a Rhoads. How about the darkest rosewood board possible, reverse sharkfin inlays, black hardware, EMG 85b/81n, black body with white bevels? Is neck binding available? That would be sweet with white binding.

No 24th fret? Maple Board Rx10D Body?

Man, for the time being.. i'm out.

Since it's been narrowed down to the RR3, I guess it will have 22 frets, bolt-on neck, reverse sharkfins, pickguard, 3 knobs & the JT580 bridge. So now we just need to decide on a color & pickups? Are you going to be able to do the single humbucker, or will it have to be both?
