• Can you help ID this Kelly....?

Hi all,

A few years ago I owned a Jackson Kelly Pro. It was bought in 1996/7 so I guess was old stock - I am in the UK. I was given the 1994/5 Jackson brochure which listed its specification - see below. However, I noticed recently when trying to track it that my shark fin inlays are reversed when compared to the ones in the catalogue. Other than that I remember the rest of the guitar being the same as the listed specs (the top kelly on the page below). Anyone know anything more about the history of this type......sorry but I didn't keep the serial number

Cheers - Rich

KE3 Professional, perhaps? Mine also has the reverse sharkfins. Awesome guitar and I love mine.

Yeah, that's what mine looks like, except black. I'm looking at that trem though... it looks "different"... got a higher resolution scan of that?

Mine was also black and came with a hard case included.
Trem was a licenced rather than original FR.
It had 'professional' after Jackson on the headstock.

No high res scan - pulled it straight from another website...if anyone gets a high res of either of the two pages above pls let me know!!!!

Yeah, my trem is a JT-580LP low profile style double locking trem. See this thread for my KE3 pics:

I was just commenting on that trem in that picture which is sort of blurry and I can't see it well.

Re: Can you help ID this Kelly....?

Thanks for the link....your Kelly is somewhat different to how mine was. Mine had no binding on the neck or headstock. Also, my pickups were not covered but exposed. So - now I am back to being confused as to the exact model version of my kelly

Re: Can you help ID this Kelly....?

Oh, my KE3 is modded and is going to undergo even MORE modifications. It originally came with Duncan Designed HB-102 pickups and no binding. I added the binding using automotive pinstriping tape and I swapped the stock pickups with and EMG-85 and an EMG-89. The trem will probably be swapped for an OFR sometime later too. You got the same kelly as notp it is simply that he aftermaketed the bindings... he bought a car pinstriping kit so thats why you see some side bindings.

Ah - all is clear now. THen my Kelly must have been a first edition KE3 - identical to your pre-mods.
Thanks for helping me clear it up....

If it helps, I don't even know what year mine was made in... I bought mine used. I've asked about my serial number before but never determined the year it was built in.

Hmmm. I got an idea. NOTP, is your serial 6, 7, or 8 digits beginning with 96?

You ARE the master, man.

And soon it will have an "ebony" board, abalone or MOP sharkfins, and an abalone or MOP Jackson logo! I'm contemplating whether to do the "Professional" script on the headstock in abalone as well, but that would be TRICKY! I think I'll just leave that part alone.

Newc, I'll check my serial number for you tonight and post it here. Thanks for the help!
