• Unknown Dinky

Hey guys. I met a guy that wants to trade me his Dinky. All I know is that it has a Licensed Floyd, Jackson pickups (1 HB, 2 Single coils), 1 volume, 1 tone, 5 way switch, and the neck has dots. He gave me the serial number which is 99082965. So is there a way to know which Dinky model the guitar is? Thanks in advance.

Regular size dots and not smaller offset dots? If so, I think it's a PS2.

Are the 12th fret dots far apart or close?

I really don't know, I haven't seen the guitar yet. They're going to bring it to my house today. I'm asking because he wants to trade for my Schecter Revenger-7, and although I was only asking $150 for my guitar, I'd like to know how much his Jackson is worth. Also he told me it is in almost mint condition, bolt-on, all black.

How many frets? What is the scale length? Reversed or regular headstock? Does it say "Professional", "Performer" or neither on the headstock? It could be one of several Dinkies or Fusions.

24 frets, 25 1/2, reversed headstock, and it doesn't say anything on it.

It doesn't say anything on the plate either, just the serial number. The tuners also don't say anything. The tremolo says "Licensed under Floyd Rose Patents" and it's the tremolo that you stick the strings from behind, the one in which you don't cut the ball-ends off the strings.

If the 12th fret dots are further apart than the usual Jackson/Charvel style, it was made in Korea. They were also made in Japan. You can tell from the serial number you gave, but I can't remember the rules.

If the ser# starts with a 9 its a Japan model 10 would be Made in India.

So is this a good guitar? Whats the selling price for a 9.8/10 one?

Yeah, if the Serial # started with 9, it's a Japanese guitar, which will more than likely be awesome with the right pick-ups...

The guitar feels real good. The only thing that I dislike are the pickups, which are way noise and have too much treble. I might keep the guitar, but I'd like to know how much it's worth.

If it doesn't say Professional or Performer on the headstock, I'm guessing it could be a Musician's Friend "exclusive" model, or something else from the late `90s or newer.

Wide dots are also Indian-manufacture, but it could be a Japanese X series Dinky from the serial and lack of "Performer" on the head.
It could also be a swapped neck.
Take the neck off, the model should be stamped in the pocket and on the end of the neck, and they should match.
