Re: Help Date My Randy Rhoads Professional

Bolt-on neck or neckthrough? Is the serial number on a plate on the back of the body or on the end of the fretboard? Does it say "Professional" or "Performer" on the headstock after "Jackson"?

If there are 4 screws in that plate that are holding the neck to the body, it's a bolt-on. If there was no plate (or more precisely, the neck went through the body to the bridge) it's a neckthrough (I have seen people put a neckplate on a neckthrough - I can't explain why )

Anyhoo, it's definitely made in Japan (Professional models were never USA-made), and I'd say it's an RR-3 model. Does it have the pickguard/control cavity cover on the front of the guitar like Randy's? There was one model that didn't have it but I can't recall if it was a Professional model or not.
