  • RR3 locking nut size

Anyone know the correct locking nut size for a mij RR3. I’ve heard R3 but that the string slots can be too high resulting in too much action. I’ve also heard the R8 is correct. Anyone know which one will actually fit?

I couldn't tell you, but I can can tell you two things:
    1. The R8 nut (like the R4 nut) has a string spacing that's 0.5 mm wider than the R3, even though the width is the same. If it's possible for you to accurately measure the current spacing (E-E center-to-center), that may provide a hint.
    2. It's much easier to shim up a nut that's too short than to plane down or re-shelve a nut that's too tall.

The best advice is, given you have good measuring tools, is to measure the E-E spacing, nut body width, and the D string height (from the bottom of the nut body, you'll have to take the nut off to do this) and compare to this chart: https://floydrose.com/products/origi...nt=30511209618. If the height of the current nut matches the height of R3 or R8 in the chart, that should be the one to go with.

Why not just buy another Jackson BH43 (stock locking nut?)
