  • rrt-3 rrt-5 what is the body made of?

I'm seeing conflicting info on the RR Pro rrt-3 and rrt-5 body material.

The Jackson website says mahogany, then goes on to say something that appears to be false, which is that the pickups are direct mount (they clearly have rings).

The sweetwater site says it is alder. The musiciansfriend doesn't commit and says it is "soild wood". Anyone know the body wood for sure? Thanks!

It depends on what year these guitars are. Because not only do specs change, but also because these are names that have been used/canceled/reused.

the 2020 catalog, page 62, reiterates "mahogany"

beyond some method of positive verification on your specimen, I think the mahogany qualification seems likely.

Thanks! This works for me, especially since I was on the fence between a gibson v and a rhoads.

Wood shouldn't be the deciding factor. Playability should be.

Gibson and their 24.75" scale length vs Jackson and the 25.5".. The neck shape. The fretboard radius. Neck joint. Number of frets.
And that doesn't even get into the looks and tone differences.
