I have a black Jackson (JS 32CD concorde) I have a decepticon sitcker that I plan on putting on it, but want to know if there is anyway to prep the finish so that if I take if off later, it will scuff the finish?

I was afraid of that!

Just think of anything you buy that comes with a sticker -
I just got a new credit card. Haven't even cut up the old one yet. The "please call to activate" sticker came right off. I was surprised.
Usually there is glue residue left over. Sometimes all I need to do is reapply the sticker, using the glue to pull up the glue residue. Other times I need to use some rubbing alcohol.
I have never needed finger nail polish remover on a CC but have used it on other stuff.
Would you want to have to use any sort of "Goo B Gone" on a guitar?
There is just no 1 answer. It all depends on the glue used.

yeah i'm fine with using goo b gone or something like that, but the fact that it could melt into the finish is scary. I was just wondering if there was a failsafe for making the sticker "less sticky" or something like that.

Think of it in the same context of a tattoo. Don't have it done unless you intend to live and die with it.Fuck ebay, fuck paypal

yeah if you don't know the origin of the sticker you're running the risk of permanence.
but if you do know the sticker of high quality from a reputable printer and is made for e.g. cars, the goods ones are usually consistently "removable." modern car finishes and guitar finishes aren't too different.
but regardless of systemic damage due to the adhesive, you're always running the risk of relative discoloration of the area under the sticker due to the UV aspect.

I am not disparaging the Jackson JS Series, but honestly that product range is the least worried I would be when it came to modifying it, including adhering a sticker to the clearcoat.
If it were a rare USA model, I might be far more concerned and hesitant.
Perhaps to allay my fears, I might try to research specific removable decals (look for a Decepticon one) that are meant for guitars and guaranteed to be removed without any residue.

wax is an interesting suggestion, but like number of the priest said, it's a pretty low-tier model in the Jackson family so I probably shouldn't be too worried about it

Nobody has been responding to that question at face value, so I will. Just apply the sticker and you'd probably be happy whether the finish got ruined (your initial objective) or stayed perfectly intact (no harm no foul).

We've seen too many "English as a 2nd language" users. They may not grasp sarcasm when directed towards their loose translations.

ahahaha, while it is true, I am American, I definitely mistyped and do NOT want the finish to be ruined. I may try the wax trick and if it doesn't work, so be it! thanks for everyone's comments.
