So I'm kicking around building another parts guitar. There is a cheap JDR body on Ebay and a reasonably priced PS-4 neck. Just curious how they compare to one another in thickness/ profile. Also how the compare to the profile of a Fusion standard. I'd sort of prefer a JDR neck so the neck and body match but I want a cheap build so that's not a requirement. I mainly just would prefer to stay in that early mid 90's time frame. Also picking these two models for the reverse headstock. Kinda stuck on a JDR body because the control cavity route matches the professional routes of the time not the kinda oddball route of the PS-4.

PS-4 is a bit thicker over all than a JDR neck and fusions. Never had a standard, But have PRO and have had XL's and a charvel. They are still good neck's. I had four PS-4's
Edit
My PS-4's were MIJ's and had the control route of all MIJ'sLast edited by john.w.lawson; 06-15-2022, 12:28 AM.I know the old saying that the value of an opinion is generally inversely proportional to the strength with which it is held.

I used to have a JRR-94 Rhoads, RX10D Rhoads, a couple of DX10Ds and a couple of DK2s and I honest couldn't tell the difference in any of those necks. I'd say a PS-4 neck would be a solid replacement and choice for your project. If you stumble across a JDR neck that would be cool but I wouldn't lose any sleep slapping a PS-4 neck on it.

Well, I lost my Ebay auction on that cheap body. Someone swooped in with 11 sec left and outbid me and I wasn't fast enough on the draw to get my bid increased. Project on hold for now. It's not what I really want anyway but settling on the cheap. I want a reverse headstock Jackson but I'd prefer the 24.75 scale of the fusion, but I'm unwilling to pay almost $1000 for a Grover Jackson FU. variant and another almost $200 to ship it from Japan. Hoped a cheap build would scratch that itch. It's more money but there's a nice flame top DX10 on Ebay and a neck that's reasonable too. I may save up and do a Warmoth build. Their 7/8's series are 24.75 scale an they told me they will do a reverse arcade(Jackson style) headstock even though it's not listed on their site. I'll update later.Last edited by Dak; 06-17-2022, 02:29 PM.
