I have an Indonesian made adrian smith model the pitfall is the truss rod adjustment is in the neck heel like a vintage fender strat. and you have to remove the neck to get to the adjustment so I routed out a small slot in the body so you can access the adjustment. luckilly mine has a pick guard to hide the route

And in general, you don't have to worry about shims and angles and what not.
Personally, I would have taken a hunk out of the pickguard and added a spokewheel.

1. if the SDX is like my so-cal then you need to take the strings off to remove the pickguard. actually if i recall, with my so-cal you actually need to take the neck off to take the pickguard off, because of the fretboard overhang and the neck pickup getting in the way. you could do it without taking the neck off but it's awkward and the pickguard bends which makes me nervous. guess that's not a problem with the SDX because the single coil in the neck position is smaller.
2. I can take a neck off by just slacking the strings but not removing them. in some cases you can even keep the nut locked and just remove the tremolo strings and that will give you enough slack.Last edited by metalhobo; 11-19-2022, 06:36 PM.
