  • Adrian Smith SDX pickguard question

    Hi everyone,
I picked up the SDX version of the Adrian Smith model. So far, after a set up, I really like it. BUT, I hate the pickguard. It’s the gold/creme colour. I unscrewed the pickguard to see which pickups it had. I couldn’t remove the pickguard and wondered if it was stuck under hthe neck overhang.

So, I’m asking two questions: 1. Where can I get a black pickguard for it? 2. What’s the deal with the pickguard not coming off?

    Thanks!

you have to take the neck off to remove the pickguard. this is the case for every 22 fret strat. not removing the neck is asking to scratch your body.

a fender-style strat guard with a floyd cutout may fit the hole pattern, but the horn shape will not have the correct roundedness.

I did a quick web search found this. https://pickguardheaven.com/product/...ian-smith-sdx/ there me be other sellers out there too. I have never bought from this site.

Thank you for the info. Boy, what a pain in the ass that will be. I just don’t like the look of this pickguard at all, so I’ll take your advice and get the replacement this week. Thanks so much![

I have one... You don't have to take the neck off, just loosen it so you can slide the pickgaurd out.
Chandelr music makes pickgaurds for the SDX. I've ordered several.
