• Re: Behold The DK2LE

Those who have received your LE's, how do you like the way they play and sound? I was a little worried about the pickup being a little "thin" sounding, but it's not. Loads of bottom, great harmonics, and sustain for days. I'm gonna leave it in there. Also, the neck feels way better than any DK2 I've played. The neck on a standard DK2 seems very thin to me but the LE is a bit thicker (front to back) and has a much better "grip". The fret work is second to none (even compared to my USA Jacksons). The action is perfect, the trem stays in tune great. Overall, I'm extremely impressed with this guitar for a modern day import (especially for the price). These axes are every bit as nice as the old "model" series. Go japs!!

I called KE today. He said that the last two shipments would go out today and tomorrow and that mine (#9) would be in tomorrow's shipment. He had my e-mail address and told me he would e-mail me a tracking number.

So does this mean that everyone should have thiers already? What is our count of received guitars up to now?
Just one more guitar!

Got my Fed Ex package today! I noticed it felt unusually light, so when I opened it I saw a case and I had to laugh as I knew there was no guitar in the case and sure enough there wasn't. Ironically enough I specifically asked for NO CASE from KE. This blunder just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

I'm off to call KE to ask where MY guitar is and that I will be keeping the case as a penalty for his screw up.

Hi mm,

I am also very impressed with this guitar. The neck is a little more meaty than my soloist and feels very nice. The fret work is excellent. The string action is nice and low and the guitar stays in tune well.I play a lot of blues type stuff and I can really dig in for bends and vibrato. The pickup is also very nice. Lots of sustain with good bottom to it. I was worried that it may sound brittle but it is not. I am currently playing it through a Fender Bassman '59RI and a Keeley Blues Driver. It sounds awesome!!

Called KE and he busted out laughing when I told him I recieved a case and NOT the guitar. I told him it wasn't funny! Then he spend the next 5 minutes looking for my guitar. Lo and behold he found it in his RETURN pile. Now he is sending it out UPS and it "should" get to my by Friday.

If there are any other problems beyond this I will officially be pissed!

I also noticed the beefier neck and I like it, I jiust wish the frets from 12 on up were slightly smaller. That EMG 81 in that thing is killer!!! I am another who was afraid it would sound too thin but that thing ROCKS!!! I still have not received my Certificate of Authenticity. I'm going to call him again.

I use to own a DK2 a few years ago and I have to officially say, the DK2LE smokes it in everyway possible. The neck is beefier and much better, the fret work is better, the JT580LP is very nice and the biggest suprise, the EMG 81 which has been very brittle and thin in any other guitar I have tried with it in the bridge is super duper killer in this one. I would describe it as the EMG 85 with a bit more sizzle. I have to beleive they have changed the voicings in the recently? If so, they hit the nail on the head Great guitar and worth every penny and then some, bring on the Warrior Jack.

I just called, and apparently a bunch are going out today. I got my tracking number, will arrive Monday....

Jack (and others), interesting about the comments about the sound of the EMG81..like most, I've known it to be too brittle when used with a maple board. Looks like based on the comments, I won't have to yank out the 81 and put in an 85 which were my plans....

I wonder how these would look with those black 'Black Diamond' strings??

Pile? Don't like the sound of that.

Also, do you guys who have them think the 81 sounds a little more meaty because it's a 1 hum or does that extra bit of wood not make much of a difference? Educate me...

It could be the wood or the lack of a tone knob or both, but it still could be voiced differently, if that is the case, I may have just found a new winner!! I am a bridge 85 guy and still will be, but this 81 is smokin!! Jack.

Totally agree with everything you just said.... I couldn't be more impressed with this guitar. It almost plays as well as my Custom Shop Polka Dot Sandoval V.....

Does the 81 sound good clean without having to roll off the volume? Anyone using a Mesa or other tube amp? Does the 81 get a good clean sound through it?
