By the way... what can I do to keep the hardware and pups from collecting a lot of rust and crap?
My Half-Kramer/Kelly was fine until I came here but as you probably know, the climate here in Japan is quite humid, and now the allen screws on my bridge and nut, and the pole pieces on my neck pup are lookin pretty scraggly...
The rails on the dime are fine.
Guess I just need to clean it all when I change strings? Or every other string change?
First neckthrough Kelly Star I've ever seen. It's a beauty. The best of a Rhoads and Kelly slapped together.
Picked her up!
Had to go out of my way to the Ochanomizu shop to get 'er today (or I coulda waited for it to arrive at the Yokohama shop but what the hell, it was only like 40 minutes out of my way so I was glad to go on the trip to go get it!)
I've tinkered with it and it feels sweet, haven't plugged it in, but I've taken one for a test drive before so I know what the pups are like and stuff. Rad!
Gotta take her home and give her the old Steve Man setup tonight (10-46 strings, tuned down a whole step) and she'll be ready to rock!
OK gotta add...
The playability is much nicer on this! it's great!
Because of the odd shape, I expected that it might have the infamous "neck-dive" problem like the Kelly, but that's not the case!
I have yet to put on the 10s and set it up for whole step down, but I gotta do that tonight or tomorrow for sure..
