It could well be though that the "winning" idea that most people seem to like will cost in the upper end of that price range. So at that point would people still be willing to cough up over 500?

For instance the white pin striped Rhoads that someone posted, maple neck and black fins. Lets say most everyone loves it. What if the price (hypothetically), is right around $600? Or more toward $700? Could we still get 24+ people?

I am just saying that it might be harder to reach that point with a price bracket that's initially higher to begin with. If, as you suggested, people already agree on the features, then I don't see any problem getting them to cough up more cash [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

Despite what I said earlier... I would definitely be in on a Rhoads like the one Jackson-Charvel drew (the bottom one with vintage pin-striping and black sharkies) or a Warrior LE. (but unlike mm2002's Warrior design, it's gotta have sharkies though)

I thought the initial theme of a RRLE was a white body and maple fretboard. I thought that was a given, and the rest up for compromise. Keeping this LE similar to the DK2LE shouldf make most people happy so it shouldn't be that hard getting folks to join in.

Honestly I don't see how the price jumps to $700 compared to <$450 for the DK2LE when the body materials are the same just a different body shape (no upcharge for a RR body). The black inlays probably add say $35 per guitar; the pinstriping if more than $50 then ditch it; the neck and headstock binding can't cost more than $50 either. Thats's still under $600, which I think would be do-able, but I can't speak for everyone. Still seems reasonable for a custom RR that you would never find outside of the Jackson Custom Shop for $2k.

i would do it like mark said.
keep the original idea of the DK2LE with the mapleneck, black dots, white colour and one hum.
on the RR i would add the black pine stripes and maybe black binding.

Also I would look at a price of $400 - $500.

depending on if I get a bonus in january/february/march I may be able to swing the $500 - $600 range.

Personnally I like the idea of gaining input now, then stop askng our imput in the next couple of weeks, get a general consensus of 1 or two ideas & a price range, present them to a dealer, then in jan say here is the 2 ideas: most votes wins, then it's up to us to get the min order in to the dealer.
