I would be in for a star model, Kelly or not. That is defiantly not a body style in production right now. Neck-thru even better. The Kelly- Star is a cool body style very similar to the Rhoads. The Star body very cool also. As far as consistency I could go for the solid white one EMG-81, even though I wasn’t wild about it at first.

i'd be in on a white king v or rhoads w/ maple board, ebony inlays & white headstock. black binding / pinstriping a plus.

I like the theory of keeping the LE to a white body (black binding/pinstripe would be good) and white headstock and maple board. Getting a Rhoads/King V/Star with maple board would be nice as it really would set the LE apart from those production models that don't offer maple boards. Black sharkfins would be awesome, but I'm worried that option might really drive the price up. If black sharkfins was too costly, I'd vote for maple fingerboard with no inlays. I'd be in again for something in the $500 range....

How about a 7 string Randy Rhoads or King V?

Floyd Rose, Reverse Headstock, 1 humbucker (Seymour duncan Jb 7 string or Distortion?), Black hardware, Sperzel Tuners, bolt on with a scooped heel, maple neck, maple fretboard with black shark fins, alder body and red or white body?

This ebonized board thing keeps coming back up, will they do that in production? I thought that was something you did to color the wood yourself.

Also I don't think everyone understands that the closer the guitar is to an -in production- guitar, the more likely it is to happen and the cheaper it will be. Guitar shapes that aren't in production (kellystar, star) are not very likely to happen. In fact Kevin told me they could not do a kellystar once, but I'll still give it a shot through another dealer.

So good starting points are the japanese Pro series: dk2, ke3, rr3, rr5, sl3, and the various MG models: dkmg, dxmg, wrmg and slsmg. From there we try to change a few things, hardware, inlays, fret board, and lastly finish (pins/bevels/graphics etc).

Well I'm fairly new here so I missed out on the JCF-01 and 02, and the DK2LE. So I'm very interested in this. I'm currently considering a V, so my vote is for a white RR with a bound maple board and black sharkies. If it's that, or something close, I'm in! BTW - does it have to be one hum?

With some more thought going into this:
white Rhoads with black vintage pins &/or black bevels
maple board w/ black sharkfins (or no inlays) & black binding
1-hum (emg)
* with a 22 fret neck it would be worth the $400 - $500
** 24 fret neck I think it would be worth $450 - $550

If this is meant to be a "series" run. Then everything should be the same as the DK2LE...Right down to the dots. The specs are simple....Just change the shape, and you have it. If it is just the second Import LE run, then it can be open to whatever the import shop will agree to....And whatever design the buyers will agree to.

I posted my idea. Most people seemed to like it. Not sure if it will fly or not. To be honest, I'm not in the market for a RR import, I just designed it for the fun of it, and to try to help out. However, if you guy's want, I will work with Scott to see what we can come up with that falls into the specs we can work with (Import shop restrictions). After that, I think Scott (or myself) can post the final specs, price range, and an image. Then see who's in, and who's out.

You are going to lose alot of people if this RR model doesn't have a maple board. I believe that's one of the main selling points.

I agree, especially if it is only 22 fret, then it will seem like it is only a standard RR3 with 1 hum & no pickguard.

I do like HuntingDougs mockup as well, almost identical to mine except for the dot inlay. IMO, I think the dots don't look right on a Rhoads, but I don't think that would be a killer for me & drop out.
I was just thinking, I remeber seeing a post awhile back about "decal inlays", Does anyone know if they make a black Sharkfin version? Might be a solution if we go the dots route.

My other $0.02, this is supposed to be a series, but I did not think it was supposed to follow an identicle theme. if it does that's cool, but then what of next year (assuming the Rhoads idea is LE#2), a white Kelly with maple & black dots, then a white KV w/ maple & dots. If so, it's a cool idea, just not my cup of tea, but then again I wasn't & don't plan to be in on every run. My opinion is the run should have some variation.
