If 12-52 or 13-60 (my guages) will work fine (w/4 springs), then there´s no reason at all that 10s shouldn´t.

I have 11-52 gauge on JT-580 with three springs and it's working for me.

I'll reiterate what everyone else is saying. Whoever told you that JT580lps couldn't handle 10 gauge strings needs to be pelted with day-old powdered donuts until he/she looks like Casper the friendly ghost.

I vary my string gauge with my tuning and while I normally swap out 580LPs, I do have one and it works fine.

I like the stale donuts idea! I've never had any problem with any guage on a Floyd. Just adjust the claw, or add a spring or two, whatever you need to make it sit right. Any guitar can be set up for anything! Don't listen to those boobs! Whoever they are.

I actually use Dean Markley's BLue Steel 10-52 on my 1997 KE3, tuned to D, and it works just fine.

I think you are talking about my post. No tuning problems at all, but when I make dive bomb with whammy bar, then it goes out of tune a little bit, mostly the good ol' G-string.

I'm a bit surprised at the number of people who'd adjust the truss rod when moving fron 9s to 10s. I've never noticed the need when stepping up or down a single guage. Interesting.

That doesn't mean I don't prefer a nice setup, it just means that I have seen some players that are "anal" about string height and have to have it a certain way. I hear ya Dave and I resemble every one of those remarks.

MM - It depends on lots of factors e.g., the distance to the claw, how far the claw screws are screwed into the body, the tension your particular springs exert, whether the springs are mounted straight (slightly less tension) or at an angle (stretched a bit more and therefore exerting a bit more tension), etc. I've been changing from 9-42 to 10-46 on my guitars and haven't had to mess with the springs on any of them yet.

hmm yeah i switched my 9-42 gauge guitar to 11's before and never even tweaked the truss rod. hmm so i feel you on that note YetAnotherOne

i use 3 springs in a /|\ pattern with 10-46. no problems.

I just put GHS Zakk Wylde Boomers (10-60) on my Tele, tuned and intonated to D, and didn't need to adjust my truss rod at all. (Love those Rock Maple Necks!) I moved up from 10-46. Doing the same on a Floyd (or Copy) would definately need a set-up.
