Well you're getting an RR3 with 24 frets and a ~$100 pickup, along with the fretboard change. The RR3 costs ~$500 to begin with. Do the math...

Looks good. Two questions before I commit - is the pup going to be an EMG 81? Is it going to have any neck/headstock binding?

I can't comment too much on price, as all that discussion happens between the dealer and Jackson. Maybe if Scott feels like it he can elaborate on the price increases a little more. I'm pretty sure it's not because of the black fins, seems like they had more of an issue with the Maple.

Something else to keep in mind here is that Jackson made a significant policy change after our dk2le and that guitar Lloyd did. No more 24 order runs, it's 100 minimum and we had a tough time making this one available. We're playing with new rules and price increases.

I just looked up an RR3 on MF, with a special finish (trans color), as a comparison since our white with matched white headstock is considered a special finish. It retails for $560. Which is allready right at the lower end of our price range. From there we have:

-24 fret neck. Which as you all know is a highly sought after and widely unavailable option. There are not any other MIJ for American market 24 fret Rhoads models that I know of.
-Maple board.
-Black shark fin inlays.
-Black hardware.
-custom one hum pickup configuration w/ EMG 81.

So you get all that for a possible $15-$115 upgrade price. I'm glad I looked this over because that is not bad at all! [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img]

So this is the final consensus:


I can live with that, I need to discuss w/ wife prior to my full on commitment.

I may be opening a can of wroms hear, but would it be possible to get an EMG 85 in place of the 81 for those that prefer the 85 in the bridge? Thinking maybe Scott can swap them out.
