Good price to pay for a used SLSMG

Hi all, im interested in picking one up. However, Im not sure what is the price range that is right for these guitars. There are always some on Ebay for lame prices, but Ive heard of a few fellows here pickin em up for 400$ or so.

Can they be found for that usually, or am I out to lunch?

I got my satin black new for like 560usd during a sale @ GC and my VB new for 720usd because they discontinued Violin Brown. Both w/ Jackson Hard cases.

They are phenomenal guitars. As good as any USA I own or have played. JMO

I would consider one used for prob 400-600 W/HC Pending on finish & condition. So, No, I don't think you are "out to lunch".

I got mine with a little tip of headstock chip for $425, but I've seen them mostly for around $550.

Mountain Dog, how are you enjoying it, wanting to sell, or gonna keep it?

This will be holding me happy until I can purchase an SL2HT. Ive owned both SL2h's and and SL2 in the past, and I crave another USA JAckson, WITHOUT a trem!

I'm keeping for the time being. I'm starting to like the EMG-HZs better than the active ones (and the neck pickup in the 'coil-tap' mode sounds better than the active SA). Have you tried playing one of these yet? The neck shape is different from most other Jacksons, wider and thinner. Are there any guitar stores in your area that have one you could try out?

Nah, havent tried one, and thats my biggest gripe, no one around has em. I love the USA back shape, and I was hoping they would be quite similar.

I wish Jackson had the same neck profile as a Peavey Wolfgang [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] on ALL of their models!

The best price I've seen someone get an SLSMG for was $350 on Ebay. The JCFer who snagged the guitar was kremit. I still look out for those $350 SLSMGs constantly... [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Wow, if the typical price is $500-$550, that's about the same price or more for a USA Jackson JJ-style guitar! Either those SLSMGs are really hot, or the JJs are in really low demand.

Yeah, I just read Deneb's topic in the Efraid section where he's trying to figure out why his JJ isn't selling, even with his super-low price. Man, if they really are that low of a price, they could be a friggin' STEAL if I bought one and loved it! Of course, I'd have to see if I liked the V neck backshape. Em reported no troubles adjusting to hers, and HippieTim said he started liking his after spending more time with it.

I paid $600 for my Satin Black SLSMG with a case, used but in brand spankin' new condition. On top of that, it was in a local shop so I was able to play it first. So I'd say anywhere from $350-$600 or so would be a fair price - the Violin Brown is very tempting!

Mine costed about that too.. I live in sweden.. damn things are expensive here in europe =).
