• Woohoo! The ultimate import Jackson overdose...

Hey all,

so I went to the guitar store No.1 in Hamburg today...
and I couldn't believe my eyes.

Where all the time before only one or two lonely Jacksons had been hanging between dozens of Ibanezes, they now have ELEVEN import Jacksons hanging on the wall!
An entire top row in best view filled with (what I remember):
a DK2 HRF, a trans black DKMG, and 9 other solid black beauties: KE3, RR3, KVX10, RX10D, DX10D (I think that was the model, Dinky reversed with reversed sharkies), a WRXT, a DK2FF... forgot the rest... there might have been two RR3s...

But now comes the even better part:
Last Saturday this store opened an "Outlet Center" for all Fender owned brands, which happens to be the only one in Germany.
So all blemished guitars from Charvel Jackson, Fender, Gretsch, Guild etc. get sent here to Hamburg, and every Saturday this center opens for the happy masses to buy them for cheap!

The store owner told me they had like 20 C/Js there last Saturday, all of them pointy shapes with a ding on the horns or something like that.
And every Wednesday new stuff arrives!

I know what I'll do this Saturday (and every Saturday from now on)... I mean, I live only 20 minutes away from the store.

I'm so happy I could cry, it's the ultimate candy store dream coming true!
My GAS has just gone through the roof, I now have wet dreams of all kinds of Rhoads models and King Vs and Warriors all waiting for me to buy them for cheap.

I'll keep you posted when I've been there on Saturday, just had to share my excitement.

yup, all the above...

you know if they have offered their incoming jackson stock in the internet?
sounds interessting, specially the ones with dings (ding is a nice word btw. maybe I'm drunk, but it sounds much more nice than the german word "blötsch" or "katsch"... ).
you know they're represented in the net somewhere?

I'd love to have such a store 20 mins from me, your a lucky one!!

Re: Woohoo! The ultimate import Jackson overdose..

Don't know about the internet thing...
yeah I'm really interested in some inexpensive ones with "dings", I don't mind those, that just means I can take them to gigs without any worries.

And the store owner also told me that from now on they'll always get all the new models from Jackson since they are a full C/J dealer now... seems to be part of the deal with Fender... DK6 here I come!

And yes, I consider myself very lucky! Soon to be broke, but very lucky!

Re: Woohoo! The ultimate import Jackson overdose..

Ok, this will be a long report...

I went to the store today and spent 3 1/2 hours there in this outlet center section.

Well, I was right... it IS a candy store, with everything marked down to around half the price!

I counted 19 blemished Jacksons, with more or less damage.
Some guitars only had tiny finish flaws, others had really NASTY stuff going on, like knobs that were pushed into the control cavity (including the surrounding wood area!) or a large chunk of wood broken of headstocks or Rhoads tips.

There were no USA models, but everything from JS models to a neck-thru RR5 (nice, but with the tip damage mentioned above) and two SLSMGs.

And just as feared I got an instant case of bad GAS, namely for one of the SLSMGs.
Well, one of them had truss rod problems and was marked down to 299 EURO (but the action was sky-high, I've got no use for that one if it can't be fixed),
but the other one was MINT and marked down to 699 EURO.
It was supposed to have finish flaws but I couldn't find any. The store owner told me it might be one of the demo models from the Musikmesse Frankfurt, so that the guys there just marked it as B-stock.

It played like a dream and sounded great unplugged (and not bad amplified either, but I hate EMG-HZs with a passion!).
And that guitar was LIGHT!
What I found interesting was that even the other SLSMG weighed a fair bit more. This one was a real feather, you could finish playing and forget you still have it hanging around your neck!

Now I'm contemplating if I should get it (I would pay around 620 EURO)... I've always wanted a mahagony neck-thru Jackson, and now I've got the chance to get a great one mint for 400 EURO less than normal street price. Still would have to put a set of Duncans in it though.

Or should I save the money and get an ENGL Fireball which I also have wet dreams of?

Argh, I'm torn...

Wow! Sounds like a fun day....I'd jump on that Jackson though before someone else grabs it and keep saving for that Fireball

Awesome! I was wondering if they had dinged up Fender Strat relics, and if so, how would you tell?

Exactly.
This Outlet Center is open every Saturday from 10:00 to 16:00.

I can definitely recommend the road trip for you, as there is lots of interesting stuff for a luthier.

Do these guitars come via the USA, or by sea from the Far East?
