Re: Kevin Bond Rhoads Models: First Look at Them

OK, lets put it this way: I don´t like the placement of the knob, looks wrong to me.
I have my preferances in taste and I´m picky
So are you.

Let's put it this way:
Is the placement of the knob enough to keep you from buying one?

I don´t fancy the inlays to much and I´d like the red to be a bit darker, but I can live with both those. But when the knob is placed like that, I´d say no thanks..
There´s always some compromises on a standard production model, so to me it´s just a matter of how many I can deal with.
If the knob was the only compromise (for me), I´d buy it.

Maybe I will anyway.
OK?

As for the volume knob...
There electronics cavity is large enuff to drill another hole and put the volume knob
in it closer to the standard position.
Then, you can add a tone knob where the old vol was...
(Just a suggestion for those that care)

I recently, (friday) gutted one of the new Bond Rhaods and did this along with an EMG install.
It turned out quite nicely....

Don't like the Seymour Duncan Iommi tone ?
Can't wait to get mine (I got crazy and ordered one the day Scott said he would sell them haha)...
--
Anyway, I think I might just add a kill-switch on this axe and it's going be ready to rock.

Hehehe, I didnt take any pics.
I hardly had time to breath friday when they all came.
And I had to inspect, set up, re box and ship them all out.
It was madness friday.....
The next Bond Rhoads that gets that mod I'll snap some pics...

You can also put a neck pickup and 3way switch there too.
Or maybe middle pickup and 3 more switches.

Re: Kevin Bond Rhoads Models: First Look at Them

They sound/look like ace guitars, but I'm pretty sure I'll never have one. I'm quite adamant about not buying guitars made to other people's preferences, unless those preferences are more or less in the same line as mine, or unless I can see myself compromising to fit the other person's preferences. Which is clearly not the case here (pentagram inlays?! no thanks!)
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

i like these guitars, even though i don't know a whole lot about bond. the only thing is from a distance the pentagrams look like soccer balls!
Hear the universe scream
Bleeding from black holes

And whom God mourns

Pentagram & pot leaf inlays dont float my boat... Now mirror & razorblade inlays that's a different story.

If I truly liked the guitar, the volume knob wouldn't bother me, besides I'm pretty sure this guitar was not made to play the blues or do intricate volume swells. It's a 1 hum shred machine plain & simple.

How does it sound with the EMG, is it like most EMG equipped mahogany guitars? I noticed the KB sig has mahogany body which I haven't seen on any other RR models. Are there any?

Sounds good but I didnt jam out on it.
Had too much work to do and too little time.
It was all i could do to to get the mod done and set it up ;-)
