Looking for my buddy's FIRST Jackson.

He is after a Rhoads model and I came across this one today
Bought buy the seller in 1997.
Looks black in the pics, but the color is dark purple.

It looks good to me, but i am in no way an expert.....Click on the thumbnails to take a look.

Any comments or warnings or known issues are GREATLY appreciated!

at the prices the new imports sell, a performer would be a waste of money since the lower imports go about new for the same price of a second hand performer methinks

I don't see why it couldn't be a good deal, but it depends on the price. Keep in mind that the pickups are junk and needs replacing. And from the pictures it looks like the trem would need some replacement parts.

Gonna sound like a skipping record here. If the price is near a new import, get an RX10D or something instead.
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

but I gotta point out, that the guitar itself is quite solid.
I've got one on my own, and I owe her to defend her I think...

I've been playing mine for, well, think it's about 5 or 6 years now, and there's nothing I'd complain about.

I still like playing her. the action is great, and the mechanics are just alright. sure it is no real floyd, but I'm satisfied with it.

if you can live with a PU replacement on the long run (have to agree those J70s are junk) you should like that guitar.

but don't pay too much for it, as the others said, the new imports go pretty cheap.

and if I was you, I'd take a look at the serial. those starting with a 9 are japan made as far as I know, and the ones with a 10 are from korea or india or something. not sure.
the japan ones are supposed to be of better quality.

but not a bad guitar at all. and if it comes with a case and is not too pricy, I'd have no fear giving it a try.

            THanks all....

Comes with the case, price is $250, and can be pickked up so no shipping costs.

If my bud likes the look of it..... and it looks in good shape in real life, I think he'll go for it.

$200 is a good price. Your friend did good. At Sam's new ones are typically listed at $299 (with case?) - subject to haggling.
